Mrs. Bush's People Lied (Laura Bush dons Muslim headscarf)
Debbie Schlussel ^ | 10/25/2007 | Debbie Schlussel

When I first wrote about First Lady Laura Bush's latest Breast Cancer Awareness Tour of the Extremist Islamic World (redundant), I noted that Mrs. Bush's PR team told the press that she would not, under any circumstances, don an Islamic headscarf or anything of the sort:

"They do not expect nor encourage it," of Western visitors at official meetings, said Bush's spokeswoman, Sally McDonough. "As members of the official traveling party, we will not need to wear any head scarves or abayas at any point."

I didn't buy it. And, as usual, my instincts were correct. This is Sheikha Laura, yesterday, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (thanks to reader "greatcometof1577").

Yes, Debbie, Laura is an Islamist double-agent.

There's a reason Debbie S doesn't have Ann Coulter's following and fame.

They gave her the headscarf as a gift, and she put it on for them. Big deal. Would we want her to go over there and be a complete jerk?

Sometimes, the whole story needs to be told.

From the linked source:

In Laura's defense, note this quote from the article: "At the end of the meeting, Amoudi presented Bush with a gift from the group -- a black head scarf adorned with two pink ribbons stitched on the sides. Bush draped it over her hair briefly as the women beamed and moved in closer for photos."

She was being gracious: she'd been given a gift and put it on briefly for the women

I looked at that photo zoomed to 500% - it’s very good, but it looks photo shopped - the black is ‘too perfect’ and no folds or creases show, the shoulder curve is too perfect, there should be hair outside the scarf.

Oh for Pete’s sake, look at the photo. She was accepting their gift.

I can’t believe anyone would spend their time whining about this.

But, did Mrs. Bush kiss the Muzzie leader's’s wife?

Mrs. Bush should have insulted some cancer survivors and a country rather than have one of her assistance look like a liar to Debbie. Make sure you check the first lady for shoe bombs when she returns.

I used to enjoy Debbie, but she seems to have lost her stuff since the whine-fest about someone using her stuff or some such thing. I forget the incident, Perhaps something to do with Farah at WND, but she really lost me during that period.

"The veil is to show that women are responsible for the sexual self-control of men.” — Ayaan Hirsi Ali

She could have accepted it and not worn it. The veil is a disgusting symbol - enforcing the ugly belief among muslims that women without one are "uncovered meat" and deserve to be raped.

Instead of wearing the scarf, she should have worn a giant crucifix around her neck the entire time she was in that part of the world. And in exchange for the headscarf, she should have handed the good doctor a Bible!

wayoverontheright? Not from where I'm sitting!

What if someone gave your wife a swastika or a hammer and sickle? A really nice embroidered one?

Big mistake Debbie.

Either correct your story or be grouped with the rest of the MSM half truth crowd.

Do you REALLY think this portends some conversion to Islam ....?

Or do you think the First Lady will remain the lovely, dedicated Christian mom and wonderful American she has always been?

(sometimes people just WANT to be offended or outraged so they can get attention, or whatever)

I hoped you were right, but I did the same thing. Increase brightness and decrease contrast. The folds show.

Well it goes to show how brittle Islam is when it comes to how the genders are to treat each other. The veil simply puts a HUGH burden on the woman when both men and women simply need to treat each other with respect.

Oh no, she graciously accepted a gift and participated in something that is part of their religion/culture. What’s the world coming to? (/sarc)
