Sometimes, the whole story needs to be told.

From the linked source:

In Laura's defense, note this quote from the article: "At the end of the meeting, Amoudi presented Bush with a gift from the group -- a black head scarf adorned with two pink ribbons stitched on the sides. Bush draped it over her hair briefly as the women beamed and moved in closer for photos."

She was being gracious: she'd been given a gift and put it on briefly for the women

That says it all. Shame on members of this forum, along with Debbie Schlussel, that would make anything out of this other than what it is. Laura is not Catholic, yet, she donned a scarf the entire time while meeting with the Pope. Where is the outrage over that? I hope she never meets with the Amish and wears a bonnet, god forbid!

Briefly or not: barf-o-rama!

I personally think it was a setup. They KNEW she would put the scarf on her head, however briefly; or perhaps they cajoled her into trying it on. That's all it takes. One second of wearing the headscarf and it is immortalized forever in a photograph. They accomplished their goal: the wife of the President of the United States in a Muslim headscarf. Notice how they "moved in closer for photos".
