WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 If media muscle is any measure of a candidate, Representative Ron Paul of Texas is getting ready to flex his.
In the last two weeks, Mr. Paul a Republican presidential candidate has spent nearly a half-million dollars on radio advertisements in four early primary states, the first major media investment of his campaign. On Tuesday night, he will take a seat opposite Jay Leno.
And on Monday, a campaign spokesman said, he will roll out his first major television advertising campaign, spending $1.1 million on five new commercials to be shown in the New Hampshire market for the next six weeks. (In contrast, Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and a rival for the Republican nomination, has yet to commit to any spending for television advertisements.)
Mr. Pauls commercials are intended to introduce him to voters in New Hampshire, where independents can vote in either primary and where a libertarian streak could give Mr. Paul a chance to translate his quirky popularity into votes.
After raising a surprising $5 million in the third quarter, Mr. Paul has found himself with a significant pile of cash; he has $5.4 million on hand.

Gee, the NYT likes Ron Paul! Who’da thunk it? (sarc)
Thanks for the bump Travis...
Just curious but if Ron Paul does pull off the upset of the century and wins the Republican nomination, will he be supported on Free Republic? I ask this because I have stated that I wouldn’t vote for Rooty under any circumstances and have been castigated for my position of not supporting the Republican nominee whomever that might be.
No.
Who is Free Republic anyway? It has never been one voice, and I don’t know if anybody (except perhaps Jim, but I doubt) can claim “this is Free Republic’s choice!”
Look Kang! Our plan is working! Our DNC "plant" in the Republican primary has made it to the NYT!
I truly believe Ron Paul is just one more attempt by leftists and surrealists to further distract and divide the Republican party. His positions reflect the same disconnect from reality fostered by the democrat party. Yes, we'd all like to see the IRS "go away". Yet to not acknowledge the need to engage the international community and other farcical positions shows a lack of understanding that can be summarized as either infantile or completely insane.
I've listened to the man speak. I've heard what he's had to say. The man should be part of the DNC race, not fouling the debate on conservative Republican issues.
I assume that means ‘no’. I’m not touting Paul here, just curious. So, if RP was the Republican nominee, would you vote dem? write-in? third party? not vote? Would you consider Hillary the lesser of two evils?
ron’s not gonna happen but rudy might. that’s a major concern
Would be great to see him win the nomination. It will definitely show me that the Republican party is still interested in small government like the old days.
I suspect that much of his recent influx of money is from the left, as is suggested by the sudden interest in him by the NYT.
The thing about a RP candidacy for me is that I will never have the chance to vote for or against him, our state primary is months after the issue has been decided, so it is a vicarious experience for me at least.
Let him run his adds, chances are good that the people who will support him have already heard of him though.
To even ask this question proves that you DO NOT know FR!
LLS
Polls appear on the homepage. FR indeed has a voice through democracy.

Surprise suprise, Paul is the lib media’s darling. They so hope he is a third party Perot.
I can only answer for myself. I’ll vote for anyone against Hillary. Anyone. Even a scum-bag anti-American schmuck like L Ron Paul.
The only objection I have to Ron Paul is his stand on the war. Even Hillary is smart enough to know an immediate pullout will result in disaster.
