The money would fund adult and federally restricted embryonic stem cell research for 10 years.

They are worried that the Church is making an impact.

Good!

They are basically trying to keep people home by saying the measure will pass anyway.

It’s just more corrupt liberals wanting to give handouts to the greedy corporate pharmaceutical companies who don’t think stem cell research is worth wasting their own money own.

Isn’t there a lawsuit related to this ballot question regarding the wording?

New Jersey idiots asking for yet ANOTHER tax increase. Of course this is a cbs poll and so highly suspect.

Asshats also seem to prefer Dims to Rep even after 11 of their own were hauled away in cuffs a few months ago. Haven’t heard much about that recently, have you?

Apart from religious beliefs, there’s an obvious reason to oppose this measure. It’s totally unnecessary. If there’s money to be made in stem cell research, someone will do it privately. There’s no need for public funding. But there’s a big need to cut government spending in New Jersey.

The Church will learn a lesson about NOT speaking up against crooked Democrats ever before. The Church can NOT start with this issue when she failed to speak out against fish eyed “father” mcgreevey and continued to give Holy Communion to abortion supporting politicians on both sides.
When you mix this with a voter base made up of “battered voters” who are afraid to go against the Democrats, is it any wonder that a recent poll showed that 50% of Garden Staters want to leave?

This is one issue where populists, tax-cutters, and pro-lifers agree. Sadly corporate interests and leftist politics will prevail.

added NJ to the topic’s list. The problem is that the demonic left in the media and legislature deceive the citizens into believing that ESCR has the potential to cure, even though there are no successful clinical trials since 1981, while ignoring that adult stem cell research has a 30-year proven record with 73 diseases being treated or cured from their use.

Dear Pro-Life Friend:

Below is a U-tube of a TV ad featuring Steven McDonald which we are currently running on News 12 regarding Public Question # 2, the Stem Cell Bond Referendum. With the election less than two weeks away, we urgently need help to expand our reach to other channels and run this through the November 6 election. We are also running radio ads on several stations throughout NJ which also feature Steven McDonald.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lQAlxWvgrA

I’d like to give you a little bit of information to explain what we’re up against. A Rutgers poll just came out today that showed that the Bond Question is favored by voters by 58% and by Catholics by a 48 to 41% margin. It also found evangelicals and those who described themselves as born-again Christians supporting the measure by 48 percent to 42 percent.

I attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Stem Cell Institute in New Brunswick this past Tuesday where Senate President Richard Codey announced that he and Tricia Riccio (the wrestler’s mom) were starring in TV ads where she laments the fact that her son, Carl, who was paralyzed in a wrestling accident, is unable to hug her. . Richard Codey, is the sponsor of the Bond Act, and has millions in his leadership PAC which he no doubt is willing to spend to advance his pet project.

Governor Jon Corzine, who spent about $105 million of his own money on his election campaigns, was quoted in a story today about the Stem Cell Bond Referendum vowing to spend his own money to fight those who oppose the referendum. “I’m more than prepared to put resources into a campaign, if it’s necessary, to make sure that the public knows there is an opportunity to do what I believe they really want to do, which is advance mankind and maintain and support the economic vitality of the state.” (Jon Corzine, 10/25/07 A.P. Story,”Poll finds voters back stem cell money as church urges opposition.”)

To put these ads on Fox TV channel - prime time - it will cost $2100 a spot. The cost to get these ads on News 12 TV channel is $215 and $175 a spot. The radio ads are running on WABC, Star 99.1FM (WAWZ) and several other stations. WABC radio is the most expensive at $800 a spot. These ads will only run for a limited time based on what we can afford.

Won’t you help us get the word out about this highly deceptive Loan to Clone Bond Scheme? Please consider a donation to NJRTL to help us blanket the state with these ads. You can call our office at 908 276-6620 to make a credit card contribution by phone or you can go to our website at http://www.njrtl.org/core/newsletter_details.asp?ArticleID=359 and make a secure credit card contribution electronically. Please pass this email on to family and friends and please remind them to go out to the polls on November 6 and Vote NO on Public Question # 2. Precious lives depend on your help and your NO Vote. Most of all, please pray that this diabolical referendum is defeated! Thank you!

**as the Catholic church tries to rally voters against supporting the funding.**

Once again, it looks as though the Catholic Church stands alone. No wonder people are flocking back to the Conservative Catholic Church.

Many believe stem cell research will bring cures for ailments such as spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, sickle cell anemia and multiple sclerosis...if there were really scientific evidence supporting such probabilities private companies such as our own Merck would be pouring money into the research and there would be no need to go filching funding from the public - the Church might be able to turn the issue around, but during years and years of voting in the state I can recall no ballot question asking for more public funding that the voters were smart enough to reject.......

New Jersey voters support borrowing $450 million for stem cell research,

I thought NJ taxes were high enough already.

``I always am concerned when there is thoughtful and careful opposition which the church brings to bear from their perspective,'' Corzine said. ``But we'll hopefully find that people want to advance science in a way that protects the lives and improves the lives of every individual.''

That is precisely what the Catholic Church is trying to do, Governor. If ESCR is such a promising technology, why aren't you investing your own money into the project?
