"Professor" Muqtedar Khan Has Israeli Defense Forces Vet Booted from Panel
Campus Watch ^ | 10/25/07

Campus Watch Associate Fellow Asaf Romirowsky was removed from an academic panel at the University of Delaware yesterday because one of the panelists, Muqtedar Khan, refused to share the panel with a veteran of the Israeli Defense Forces.

Michael Rubin at NRO's The Corner has posted the details:

Academic Freedom? [Michael Rubin]

Yesterday, the University of Delaware asked Asaf Romirowsky to step down from an academic panel at the University of Delaware because another panelist, University of Delaware political scientist Muqtedar Khan, didn't want to share the podium with anyone who served in the Israeli Defense Forces. Romirowsky, who holds joint American/Israeli citizenship and lives in Philadelphia, had been invited to join Khan, his colleague in political science, Stuart Kaufman, a staff member of the National Security Council during the Clinton administration, and a graduate student to discuss anti-Americanism in the Middle East. The program was organized by the College Republicans, the College Democrats, and the Students of Western Civilization Club. The Leadership Institute provided the funds for the panel, which met on the University of Delaware campus on Wednesday evening. The students offered Romirowsky the opportunity to come to campus next week and speak alone, with no other panel members who might object to his presence.

If Khan was just an academic, that would be one thing. But he also straddles the policy world: Khan is a a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and a Pentagon consultant. According to an e-mail he sent to the University, he gave a workshop at the Pentagon yesterday afternoon.

Academics should embrace intellectual challenge; not flee from it.

Here's the e-mail from Khan stating his objections to appearing with Romirowsky:

—— Original message —— Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2007 20:02:29 -0400 From: "Muqtedar Khan" Subject: Re: Understanding Anti-Americanism Panel To: [Names redacted]

Laura, I have to speak at the Pentagon tomorrow. My workshop is from 12-4. I hope to catch the 5 pm Acela from DC and will be back in town by 7 pm. I will come directly, but may be late. I am also not sure how I feel about being on the same panel with an Israeli soldier who was stationed in West Bank. Some people see IDF as an occupying force in the West Bank. I am not sure that I will be comfortable occupying the same space with him. It is not fair to spring this surprise on me at the last moment.

Can you imagine the UPROAR if the situation was reversed?.............Where’s the outrage? Where’s the condemnation? Where’s my country?...............

There is an enormous qualitative difference between declining to appear with someone you strongly disagree with and demanding that someone else be silenced. It’s the difference between taking a principled stand and advocating for totalitarianism.

Before terrorism worked so well for the sand people, those who refused to serve some post with another would have to step down themselves. Unfortunately, we don't live in a sensible world anymore.

I hope someone at the Pentagon sees this and tells Mr Khan that his services are no longer required.

And they kick out the IDF soldier who in a war would give his life for them.

What morons

Thanks, I just fired off an email to him. Can’t believe they let this guy dictate who will serve on their panel. Pentagon now needs to look at who they are hiring as a consultant.

I don’t get this. Why does Khan have veto right over who appears on the panel? And why did they go along with him? What makes him so special? Khan should have been disinvited. Can you believe it, Khan is a Pentagon consultant? What has he been telling the Pentagon?

“Delaware has a university?”

Yes, and their athletic teams are known as the Blue Hens. Sounds like a flock of chickens to me.

I still have a few contacts. I will see what I can find out about who Mr. Khan works for and if successful, inform them about his actions in this matter.

Hard to have any sympathy, really. As long as the Jews cast their lot with these liberal intellectual vagabonds this is the type of stuff they can expect to encounter. If their liberal buddies kick them out of their faux universities who’s to care?

As a Prof I can say that even the libs on our university campuses should have a big problem with this one. So because Khan is biogoted...it is the the students at the U of DE who suffered and were short changed as per their student activity funds.

That is not education nor should Khan be an academic. A panel is just that ...a collection of people grouped by the university organizers..not by Khan. If he is to bigoted to share the stage with other legitimate invitees, he should be the one opting out.

Wonder about a letter to the Chronicle of Higher Education on this one. They take a dim view of “academics” blocking student-organized programs.

Khan is on very thin ice.

They caved to the islaminazi. Wow. Now I know for sure that the panel won’t be biased in any way, shape, or form.

With Khan’s views, I’d be very curious to see what he has been telling the Pentagon. Is he a source of disinformation. Oh, the Pentagon has hire anti-American, anti-Military William Arkin as a consultant. Man, how can I get this gig as a Pentagon consultant? They’ll hire anyone. I need the money.

Please let us know what you find out. Also, William Arkin was hired by the Pentagon to do some study. He’s a far lefty, anti-American, anti-Military, who worked for NBC until he was outed by Bill O’Reilly.
