A New Front in the Abortion Wars
Washington Post ^ | 25 October 2007 | Robert D. Novak

Posted on 10/25/2007 6:02:20 AM PDT by shrinkermd

National antiabortion leaders put the finishing touches yesterday on a letter to be sent to all members of Congress, urging suspension of more than $300 million in federal funding of Planned Parenthood until a massive criminal case brought in Kansas against the abortion rights organization is settled. That launches an attack against the nation's largest purveyor of "reproductive health care" -- including abortions.

On Oct. 17, Johnson County District Judge James F. Vano in suburban Kansas City spent eight hours reviewing a 107-count grand jury indictment against Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri. He decided there was "probable cause" to proceed. Allegations of unlawful late-term abortions and other abortion-connected crimes were brought by Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline, a pro-life hero nationally who is viewed as a fanatic by advocates of abortion rights. The prosecution alleges violation of state and federal laws and falsification of documents to justify those acts.

This opens a new front in the endless abortion wars. No change in the status quo had seemed possible for pro-lifers. The 5 to 4 Supreme Court advantage for abortion is frozen, and a Democratic-controlled Congress will not pass new antiabortion legislation, much less a constitutional amendment. The offensive against abortion now takes dead aim at Planned Parenthood and attempts to expand a Kansas criminal prosecution into a nationwide assault.

Think what we could do with $300 million, other than subsidize and pay for people’s abortions. . .

Novak wonders whether or not there will be enough prosecutors (one might say, "genuine prosecutors who are not bought and paid for by the abortion industry" as ALL of the others in KS, as well as most of our Judges, Governor, and other elected officials.)

One prays that there will be enough people willing to look clearly at the records, which show evidence of evading the laws of every state to report and defend girls from rape.

All one hears today is "it's for the children," well, now they have the golden opportunity to see if they really ARE in favor of protecting all of our children or not, especially when campaign funds from the lucrative abortion industry is involved.

Phil Kline is not a Fanatic, although he is depicted as a “fanatic” by the Kansas City Star, the local Socialist mouthpiece. They make a point of ignoring 98% of his efforts on things like protection of battered women and go postal on the 2% of his activities that involve investigation of things like statutory rape not reported by PP staff. A few cases of statutory rape are meaningless to the Star and the KS Governor if investigating them threatens the holy secular rite of abortion.

Allegations of unlawful late-term abortions

I thought even late-term abortions were unrestricted. What precise law is at issue here?

After 24 weeks (I think ,, may be 22) in KS abortions are permitted for the health/life of the mother only,, doctors are required to have that certified by another doctor who isn’t financially involved... Tiller performs late abortions because they start at $5000 and go up quickly to $15000 or so... he uses the rubber stamp excuse “mental duress” or some such nonsense as to why the baby must die and has a financially linked associate countersign the OK.

This post has the statutes http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1913958/posts ,,, I have a PDF of the legal complaint as filed (was linked in a KS newspaper).

Abortionists feel they are truly above the law ,, part of that is due to them literally having the power of life and death in their hands, the other reason is that they have near bulletproof legal protection from the libs.. I feel that legal attacks are the way to go ,, plenty of violations ,, we could shut down huge numbers of clinics if we just mounted a malpractice campaign whenever one of them kills a woman...
