WASHINGTON (AP) - Hurricane Katrina has many legacies for the Bush White House, none pleasant. One is the guarantee that as soon as disaster strikes in the United States, President Bush's every move is closely scrutinized to gauge the speed and tone of his response.

What, they are not happy with the 200+ Billion that President Bush promised? Can we have the FEMA trailers back now?

Exactly! Like W created the storm, steered the storm, built the city of NO, hired Nagan and Blanco, removed all the starters in the buses, blew the levees, forced all the remaining residents to stay put at gun point with the military, and used his hand to force the city of NO below sea level, knock a hole in the rough of the Superdome, put the $90K of marked bills in Jefferson’s freezer, and for the last 30 years skimmed 20% of all the federal levee improvement monies into his foreign bank accounts. YEAH THAT”S IT!....yeah right.

It won’t be long before billions are appropriated for rebuilding, FEMA trailers come pouring in, legislation is introduced to keep those mean, nasty ‘ol insurance companies from raising premiums, and within a few years everything that was burned will be rebuilt. Just in time for the next bad fire season to take them out again and start the whole process over.

Wow, I had no idea the the President was a first responder.

If he comes to our shooting range he can shoot for half price.

Rush nailed this yesterday talking about the politicization of the California fires and anything else that should come along. As I have observed, by early in their careers, reporters know how to do only one or two stories. Change the faces and locale, but basically, its the same thing.

Exactly, and to compare response to these 2 disasters in the first place is lunacy. Aid and supplies could move right into California. New Orleans was underwater making that impossible.

They use a tragedy to push their petty politics.

This "slow Federal response to Katrina" crap pisses me off. I was on USS Bataan. We came out of Corpus Christi two days before Katrina, heading home to Norfolk. We waited west of the storm's track, just in case they needed us. Yeah, we were in the area before Katrina. We had helicopters over the city before it started raining. How's that for a speedy response?

Gosh Miz Loven, does this mean you won't vote for President Bush to be re-elected next year?

Whatever will your next column be on? A two year old report on the stock market?

Maybe you can turn to sports and do a write up on the 2005 Super Bowl.

The same f'n idiots demanding that federal troops or the national guard get in front of 60 mph walls of fire in San Diego Co. to 'fight it', are the exact same f'n idiots wanting the military to fly and drive into the middle of a CAT4 storm to evacuate people. Blanco is the f'n Dem idiot being played as a puppet by the DNC and CApital Hill Dems as not to 'give up power' by delaying the request for federal aide in an emergency evacuation, not George W. Bushes'!!!!!

I won't even start with 'Chocolate King', Nagin.

Thank you, Miss Didi! I haven’t gotten enough “Rush fixes” lately. )

RUSH: “One of the primary differences is that the local and state officials in California have done their job in getting people out of the danger. In New Orleans they screwed that up. They didn’t get all the people evacuated, and then the roads finally got damaged and flooded and they couldn’t get people out of there, so you had all the mayhem in the Convention Center and the Superdome. The Drive-By Media is trying to blow this thing up in California in ways they did with Katrina because they think they really did a great job with Katrina.”

The Katrina relief effort was the largest and most successful in the history of the world.

The storm destroyed the transportation infrustructure in a three state area along the Gulf coast. Nonetheless, the local, state and federal reponse kept thousands from dying from post-storm desease and shortages of food and water.

The main failing of the government response to the coming storm was the local and state failure to effectively evacuate the population. And for this, they blame Bush?

(Think yellow school buses.)

Fantastic point.

Notice how no media outlet is calling that election a "leading indicator". If Jindal would have lost, they would have...
