Senator Clinton ^ | 10/23/2007 | Senator Clinton

Posted on 10/24/2007 2:23:29 PM PDT by mdittmar

Senator Hillary Clinton released the following statement about the devastating wildfires that have been raging through Southern California:

“I have been following the news about the wildfires that are affecting seven counties in Southern California. My heart and prayers go out to the families who have been displaced, have lost their homes, businesses or worse – have lost a loved one to these ravaging wildfires.”

“My thoughts are also with the thousands of brave firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives in battling the flames and helping the victims. We are praying for your safety.”

The LA Times has recommended the following charities:

American Red Cross: Cash donations can be made through www.redcross.org or through a local Red Cross chapter. Volunteers also are needed. Information on shelter locations can be found on Red Cross websites for Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and San Diego counties and the Inland Empire. Donations of clothing can be made at Goodwill locations. Information: (800) REDCROSS or (800) 257-7575 for Spanish speakers.

Salvation Army: Cash contributions can be made through its website www.salvationarmy-socal.org or by calling (800) SALARMY.

Governor's Office of Emergency Services: Businesses wishing to donate large quantities of goods for distribution to fire victims can call (800) 750-2858 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Pacific time. Individuals wanting to donate items or volunteer to help with local disaster response efforts should contact the Red Cross or go to the governor's CaliforniaVolunteers website at www.californiavolunteers.org.

United Health Group: Southern Californians coping with the emotional consequences of the fires can call a counseling hotline at (866) 342-6892. The free service provided by the insurance company will be available around the clock for as long as needed.

The Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: Cash donations are needed to support efforts to provide emergency shelter for animals displaced by the fires. Contributions can be made through www.spcala.com or by calling (888) SPCALA1. Food supplies also are needed.

New Leash on Life: The animal rescue group needs help caring for evacuated pets at its Newhall facility. The group can be contacted at (661) 255-0097.

The best thing this horrible person can do for these unfortunate folks who are suffering the loss of all they own is to promise them that she won't run for the office of the President.

This is not a joke I'm serious!

Because she has declared herself the winner of the 2008 Election, sworn herself in, and has in the last days declared herself the Emperess of the U.S.A. for her lifetime, probably followed in line by Chelsea.

I’m sure Hillary feels personally responsible.

After all, one of the worst fires is named the “Witch” fire.

Celebrities came to see to see Clinton, D-N.Y., and to celebrate in advance of the former first lady's 60th birthday. Although they didn't bring gifts, celebrities from Jamie Lee Curtis, Magic Johnson, Ted Danson, Bridget Moynihan and Chelsea Handler raised a half a million dollars for the Clinton campaign and enjoyed cocktails and hors deouvres in return.

Chelsea has a handler? Who knew.

My thought exactly! Trying to sound sympathetic in her relentless pandering for votes and, yet, only sounding pathetic in her attempt.

Because being a Senator from New York state was only face time for her thighness.

Maybe she’s just trying to sound presidential — or practicing being the president — or maybe just fantasizing.

My money is on narcissism. Please, oh please, let’s not have all the candidates making little mini-me presidential sounding statements on everything that happens.

Next thing we know, she’ll have an aide reading the obits and sending out statements for that.

LOLOL!!! I’m thinking “practicing being the president” is right. I’ll bet she even practices in front of the mirror. Maybe she even did it when she was a little girl while the rest of us were pretending being in our favorite band.

Why is a Senator from New York commenting on California fires?

Because she knows that the hellish flames from the WITCH Fire were sending her a message?
