Lets say all those assertions are true. Ron Paul still ignores that Saddam was a threat to the US after Kuwait.

Precisely. And that is my set answer whenever anyone asks “but, but, but, all OUR fault! All our fault!”

To which I smile and reply “think of it as a ‘market correction.’”

I hate to correct that great post, but you made one major mistake.

We helped arm his fighters in their battles against the Russians

The Mujihadin were not 'Osama's fighters'. Osama left college and aligned himself with the Azzam faction of the Mujihadin in 1979. Osama later funded the Mujihadin through the Maktab al-Khadamat, completely separately from the official US support of the Mujihadin.(Officially, the Maktab al-Khadamat was not Osama's organization but was Azzam's).. He was fighting the same battle, but he was not who we directly supported.

Muslims for Ron Paul is suggesting we wear green this week, Hama's color, as a protest against Islamofascism Awareness Week.

And they're willing to benevolently rule over Jews and Christians too. We'd be better off.

More support Ron Paul should reject, but won't.

 WEAR GREEN AGAINST ISLAMO-FASCISM WEEK!

Just to make it clear in response to a load of e-mails I've received, Jews are our cousins and brothers in faith. Just because Israel is a terrorist state does not mean Muslims are anti-semetic for denouncing it as a corrupt US-backed Zionist entity. Zionists are not all Jewish by the way.

The only so-called clash between Jews and Muslims occurred in recent history when the West created it. Before that, we coexisted in peace. In fact, there was even a time when Muslims RULED OVER Jews and Christians. Under this rule the Jews were so well accepted in society that Jewish religious, cultural, and economic life blossomed. This time period has been coined the Golden Age for Jewish culture. Read more about it here and here.

Christians, Jews & Muslims for Ron Paul!

Also, all the propagandists talking about Islam's Mahdi on the news and elsewhere have no real understanding of the subject. The Madhi is the ultimate savior of mankind FROM mankind destroying itself. An obligation of a Muslim is to work against man destroying himself. Today, when you hear a Muslim wishing for the Madhi's reappearance it's not because he wants mankinds destruction, it's because he believes we are already at a stage where we our destroying ourselves overwhelmingly.

When the Madhi re-appears, there will be peace and harmony between all. Those who love injustice, oppression, thievery and lies -- they will be the ones who should fear his reappearance. Why? Because he'll stop them. He'll lift up those who are oppressed. Who are the oppressed? Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Blacks, Whites --- EVERYBODY is included in this equation. He's not just for Muslims. The coming of the Mahdi will be such that the Christian will be ruled by his Christian law, the Jew will be ruled by his Judaic law, and every human being will be judged by their own belief law. But Allah's law will supercede all of them and ensure there is no hegemony, no stealing, no cheating, no murdering, no sending armies and occupying other peoples land while taking their lives away, or stealing resources because one nation believes themselves to be superior -- these are all unexceptable.

InshAllah (God-willing), we pray for his re-appearance. We pray for freedom, peace and justice.

That's true, just as he refuses to recognize there's an ideological Islamic enemy out there which is a threat to us today.

Even slimmer when you search for “Larry Fester” instead of Larry and Fester:

I'm so sick of this. These are just bald assertions. We helped to teach the Afghanis how to fight against the invading Soviets and helped them with a limited supply of stingers, and small arms and we've "radicalized" them. The invasion had already taken place, and they we're doing their best to repel the Soviets. This is like saying the French radicalized us to defeat the English in 1781. Saddam came to power by coup, how did we install him? This historical revisionism or ignorance negates the whole article.

Exactly correct.

You cannot deal with history without dealing with historical context.

We aided the Soviet Union to defeat a more dangerous foe at the time, Nazi Germany and Japan.

Were some bad decisions made, without a doubt,(the Democrats were weak with the Communists), but they were made within an immediate historical context that has to be taken into account.

The issue we fact today is radical Islam, which due largely to the non action decisions of Carter (Iran) and Clinton (not responding with force to acts of terrorism), has become a threat to our national security.

Now, Ron Paul may have some legimate better ways to combat terrorism, such as giving more freedom to the individual to be armed (pilots), and that is what we need to start dealing with, not trying to blame this WOT on the U.S.

“suggesting we wear green this week”

Maybe someone should shoot over across the way and ask Charles Johnson to temporarily call his blog site “Little Fuschia Footballs”

****well, republicans don’t seem to be doing much to reduce it, we had control of both houses and the presidency and we grew it like never before. And from the sounds of the presidential debates it doesn’t sound like the other hopefuls would do much to reduce it either.*****

There was a link on Drudge earlier today about Bush being a bigger spender than LBJ.

We can have a long talk about how folks in the Middle East think that we supported Saddam Hussein. Created and installed is pure BS.

You don’t have to look any futher than the 80-88 Iran-Iraq War to see where we provided military equipment to Saddam in his War against the Shi’s in Iran.

I still hear the conspiracy theories about how the US Embassador to Iraq, woman by the name of Glaspie, supposedly gave tacit approval to Saddams invasion of Kuwait on 8/2/90. Nonsense, since even Tariq Aziz, the only Christian in Saddams inner circle said that he expected a strong negative response from the USA.
