Report: FBI Raid of David Copperfield's Warehouse May Involve His Pick-Up Techniques
Fox News ^ | 10-24-07

David Copperfield designed part of his show around "a system for picking up women," which may explain the FBI's interest in his camera system and hard drive, sources told TMZ.

Last week, the FBI raided Copperfield's Las Vegas warehouse and seized digital camera equipment and a hard drive to a computer after a Seattle woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in the Bahamas.

During his show, Copperfield goes into the audience and chooses women to come on stage. If he likes a woman, he'll use code words with assistants like "mama" and "secrecy," TMZ reported.

The assistants mark the women on a map of the inside of the Hollywood Theater at MGM Grand. After the show, the women are brought backstage, and told that Copperfield may use them in his show when he comes to their hometown.

They are then photographed with a digital camera, asked questions like, "What is your favorite men's cologne?" and "Where do you like to vacation?"

so you have to wonder how he acquired his wealth.

Do you call yourself a conservative? His money, his business.

I’ve convicted him? Look, these people are pretty darned creepy without my help.

The way I look at it is this— when I was a little boy, we all wanted to be pirates, cops or astronauts. How many little boys say— I’m going to become a thespian- or I’m gonna hoof it up on Broadway! I’m just saying, they’re a little creepy to begin with. So, with that in mind, my money is on the FBI in this case. He’s too high-profile to go after without somethign big. They don’t want to be sued for the next 50 years.

I saw the Penn and Teller show in Vegas this past June.

It was great. Vegas won’t have a problem replacing him.

How Cooperfield aquired his fortune is no secret. He travels the planet doing untold numbers of shows every year. Forbes has estimated he career earnings to be well in excess of $1 Billion.

One question I have is why the US authorities are involved in this at all if it’s a Bahamas case.

One of them is a friend of Greta Van Cistern, and ol' Greta would like another vacation?

So someone who wants to become a professional magician, and aspires to be one of the best and most successful of all time is creepy?

I shall let my brothers at the International Brotherhood of Magicians know they are a bunch of creeps, based solely on their choosen profession or hobby.

I suspect this has more to do with the govt wanting Copperfield’s money than some alleged rape in another country. Some prosecutor may be thinking he’ll get publicity out of this, too. There are a lot of Nifongs out there.

Did I say all magicians are creepy? I did not. I said he is creepy. Al Gore is creepy. pee Wee Herman is creepy. Rosie Odonnel is creepy. Ellen degenres is creepy. Humans know creepy. If there was a headline that read someday—”Half-eaten corpse found in Elton John’s bathroom”, I’d think to myself— yeah, matter of time...

It’s a no brainer why the wealthy(Michael Jordan, Oprah, Bill Gates, etc.) invest in the Bahamas:

“As the world’s premier tax haven, The Bahamas offers the perfect investment opportunity as there are no personal, corporate, income, capital gains, estate, gift or inheritance taxes. Easy access to major world markets, political stability, security and economic opportunities are all a reality of business in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.” http://tinyurl.com/2mxppv

So Copperfield is am amateur vs. Bubba Clinton. But then again the latter had state troopers to help out.

I’m trying to figure out from the story just what crime he committed and why the FBI is involved. I’m not offering excuses for him using dumb pick up lines, or filling in his little black book with potential dates when visiting cities - but the story gives reason to believe a crime was involved.

oh, and fyi Chris Angel and David Blaine-— both creepy

Here is how I define creepy... If they used my bathroom, I would get a new bathroom. All of the Clintons and Kennedys are lumped into that category.

Thats a bit more than saying "Cooperfield is creepy". Kinda of a brush across the entire profession is more like it.

From someone who has been around Cooperfield I can say he is not creepy. In fact, he is a very kind, caring, and humorous man. An ego the size of a planet, but still a very nice and caring man.

Friends of mine (and his) one time broke into his hotel room in Switzerland to utilize the AC and emptied the minibar. He walked in on them. Hilarity ensued.

I don't know, nor have I ever met either of them. So I can't comment. But what I do know is that 99% of entertainers present an image to you on purpose of what they want you to believe they are. Its how they do their job. They are completely different people when not 'on the job'.

While a different profession, Neal Boortz is likely the shyist, most quite and withdrawn person you can imagine in person, when not 'on the job'. But put a mic infront of him, or on stage before an audience and BOOM! he comes to life.
