I see this also as potentially creating need for construction of new homes maybe ?

Gee whiz.......where will one find that many forms of cheap labor in Kalipornia ?

Parking lot of Lowes or Home Depot maybe ?

Santa Ana winds may get their name from the Santa Ana Mountains in Orange County, the Santa Ana River or Santa Ana Canyon, along which the winds are particularly strong. There are also claims that the original form is Santana winds, from the Spanish vientos de Satán ("winds of Satan", Sanatanas being a rarer form of Satanás), and that this in turn is a translation of a native name in some unspecified language.

“an al-Qaeda terrorist being held in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States”

Anyone have the KSM papers handy. I’m sure he at least made some kind of attempt to take future credit for this (lol). Some will get this... some won’t.

Harry Reid is claiming it was caused by Global Warming too.

The vast majority of Americans do not have any say in our foreign policies. Unfortunately that is left up to politicians and select campaign contributers.

This may be true but a moment of truth is about to happen when the home owner finds out he is under insured. One bright spot if there is one is the fact framing lumber costs are less than a year or two ago.

Another thing the home owner may be faced with is banks reluctant to loan for reconstruction. I have never had a complete loss while owing money on the property...

In this case my first thoughts would have went to an ex-fireman or two whose careers took a sudden downward spriral, if the so-called expertise is truely representative of what happened.

Very plausible and has occurred in a few cases in the past. This event however was unique. Very strong Santa Ana winds were blowing as these fires were set or broke out. These particular winds were the strongest we have had here in a very long time. Sunday night it felt as if my roof was going to blow off for about 5-6 of the peak gusts. Fireman (or exFireman) would be knowledgeable enough to realize that setting a fire in those winds would be very dangerous and completely uncontrollable (as we have seen from the damages). Luckily the winds have mostly stopped tonight, so there may be possibilities for some mischief, but those will probably be fireman setting backfires. Having stated all that however, I would not be surprised to learn that a couple of those new fires that appeared close to existing fires may have been backfires that got out of control. Intent however was good.

Didn't you have this as a subplot in Dragon's Fury?

Cheers!

Not to mention that California canyon country is hardly the place that people who were credit risks could have even THOUGHT about buying a home.

Perhaps a flipper could have got caught with his pants down, but his scenario is highly unlikely.

What is an "anti-razor" ?

(Grey whiskers is curious, as he doesn't shave much.)

Cheers!

That raises a question in my tiny brain... are any of the newly burnt houses among those that burned four years ago, because surely those loans wouldn't be paid off.

I saw a watched on the History Channel that showed that we used a bomb made of bats with delayed incendiary devices on Japan (a bat bomb as it were)

Dave Barry has a devastatingly funny article on this.

I’ve totally not kept with this fire situation, so I was just going from the snip from the officer. You’re right though, once the intitial instance(s) are on the table, it creates it’s own wind systems. Combine that with unusual wind patterns locally and the fireman are really putting it all on the line even getting out and setting some backfires.

Media should run an unconfirmed piece on a faux suspect talking with authorities, and mention that the there’s rumors of a deal trying to be worked out as an accident. Then run it as no good, after the headlines are made :) Could get a nibble.

Na Pete Stark my lovely rep in Washington (now let me go throw up) he will blame it on someone who wanted to see this for the amusement. It is not Global warming that is for sure.
