It was good see all the new ones, though some of them were
very hard to watch. I know our president was so good with
the family of that fallen hero. He has such compassion.
I had heard that she was involved in the exploratory committee but was not sure if she was still involved.
I see ... THANK YOU! And, thank you, wolfie .. ;)
You do not get the full emotion from the photos though there are 2 that are pretty emotional I will watch the video of it tomorrow as I am sure it is on the White House website.
Thnks for all that work, snugs.
And you, too, Wolfie.
Outstanding Photo of the Day.
Thanks for all you do, snugs.
The Medal of Honor ceremony is on the cspan2 schedule tomorrow morning about 9:26.
Because he was so personally affected as a New Yorker when 9/11 happened, he wore that red patch on his uniform to commemorate that event and the lost firemen and victims.
~~~~~~
"As an Officer, Murph chose to use Engine 53 and Ladder 43 as a symbol for his teammates. Shortly after being deployed, Mike requested enough company patches to distribute to his fellow SEAL members. We were informed that Mike wore our patch with pride on every mission, on every deployment."
Thank you
My pleasure
To the Parents of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, and to President Bush, thank you.
:o)
Well am helping dad to bed and then I need to turn in, will check tomorrow for pings and do the toaster - night all
My house caught on fire Saturday morning while we were gone and lost everything. Cindy and I are staying with a friend and I am using his computer. Dozens of friends have brought me clothes and helped with the cleanup and brought us meals and offered all kinds of help. Cindy is throwing herself into helping me get back on my feet. Freepmail to you.
Oh no! How horrible .. I’m so sorry you
have suffered such loss. So terrible.
Thank God you weren’t there and hurt.
Prayers that you’ll able to start all
over again without too much stress.
How wonderful that you have such good
friends .. I’m sure they’ll be there
to help.
I’ve done it .. it’s not easy, but God
is good. Keep the faith .. bless you.
God bless and protect Laura
on her journeys in the Middle
East ... always makes me nervous.
snugs: THANK YOU for posting the DOSE tonight . . . You’re amazing!!
[I can’t believe the President’s touching gesture made it into an AP article!]
MEDAL OF HONOR CEREMONY AT WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON - President Bush publicly honored a fallen Navy SEAL Monday by presenting his grieving parents with the Medal of Honor and privately honored their sacrifice by wearing a dog tag they’d given him moments before.
The president posthumously awarded the nation’s highest military honor for valor to Lt. Michael Murphy of Patchogue, N.Y. the first given for combat in Afghanistan.
Before the emotional White House ceremony, Murphy’s parents Dan and Maureen Murphy met with Bush and gave him a gold dog tag in tribute to their son.
“What we were most touched by was that the president immediately put that on underneath his shirt, and when he made the presentation of the Medal of Honor, he wore that against his chest,” said the father.
After the ceremony, Dan Murphy said, Bush told the family: “I was inspired by having Michael next to my chest.”
The father, who fought back tears during the ceremony, said they were “deeply moved” by Bush’s gesture.
[All right, now I’m in tears!!]
From THE ANCHORESS:
MICHAEL YON OFFERS TO HELP THE PRESS FIND IRAQ
Ed Morrissey explains:
Michael Yon has grown frustrated with American and European coverage of the war in Iraq. He has experienced the vast gulf that has opened between the reality of his own observations throughout the Iraqi nation and the depictions of doom that the Western media create out of whole cloth and he has reached the boiling point in his latest dispatch. Yon writes of a dogma dome which insists that Basra has descended into chaos when it hasnt, and that Iraq has collapsed when it has actually started to coalesce into a real nation
Yons whole piece is here. [You will find this link by following the Anchoress link provided below]
More from Ed:
Yon is doing something rather unusual he is offering his reports for free to members of the National Newspaper Association. Rather than charge for his dispatches as most independents would of syndicators, Yon will allow them to use the reports for free. He is putting his money where his mouth is, in order to give newspapers no excuse to recycle old stories or print new falsehoods, as he puts it. He wants an end to the dogma dome and the truth about Iraq to get to the American people.
