Obama: No Hand on Heart for National Anthem

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171

Turns out that not wearing a flag lapel pin isn't the only way Barack Obama chooses to show he's a different kind of Democrat.

Have a look at the photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of "Time." It shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, IA during [according to the photo caption] the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands on their heart. But not Obama. Does he perhaps believe that, like wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn't "true patriotism"?

"Time" ran the photo without comment. I haven't seen coverage of this anywhere else in the MSM. Perhaps some enterprising reporter can ask the Illinois senator about his decision to spurn this American tradition.

In fairness to Obama he represents those who have taken over the Democrat Party and his is a damn Muslim!

I have no interest in defending Obama. I just don’t want to see one of those situations where the left can accuse our side of using a misleading photo to try to smear the guy.

It is what it is. It is not "our side's" photo. It was taken and published by Time magazine. I believe some reporter should ask Obama about it, especially given his position on wearing the American flag lapel pin. It raises a legitimate question. It is not an attempted smear.

You can be “fair” to the SOB if you wish but I know my enemy—and the enemy of my son and his buddies serving in Iraq for a second tour, an EXTENDED tour I might add.

These politicians are worthless POS and I would gladly pay a fine and kick their a$$e$. I kid you not. I think there’s lots of folks with me on this but I don’t care if I was the only one in the bunch that feels like this.

For some reason or another this picture reminds me of one from the ‘68(?) Olympics down in Mexico City.

Two American medal winning sprinters (can’t remember their names) lowered their heads and did the raised fist Black Power salute from the medals platform while the national anthem was playing.

This has the same “feel” to me, even though it is more subtle.

I agree with you. There is no way Barak Hussein Muhammed Al Obama is going to win. You’d have a better chance of winning the lottery and then being struck by lightning 12 times on the same day, but yeah, I don’t know what he’s up to. Maybe he’s just a simpleton and never was taught to put his hand over his heart at the muslim school.

I suggest the possibility that another Flag was present ... and being hoisted up a pole. They're all facing the same direction.

HOWEVER ... their demeanor is sloppy even by minor-league baseball game standards. One would think that Presidential Candidates would try to do better than that.

How many times do these people have to, say it, show it, scream it, write it? They act unpatriotic because they are unpatriotic. They are not patriotic Americans. They are people who are embarrassed that they were born here and have to “suffer” because of the shame they feel at being thought of as Americans. Since they are NOT Americans, they can not be accused of being unpatriotic toward America. You don’t feel you have to explain not feeling patriotic about Canada, they don’t feel they have to explain not feeling patriotic about America. To them it is the same thing. If we had ANY honesty in the ratmedia, we would not have to learn these things from the new media.

There were multiple cameras rolling for this event. They will show wheather or not he put his hand over his heart at any point. IIRC c-span ran the whole event.
