(WASHINGTON DC) Rudy Giuliani took a step last week to convince some of the more sensible folks who hold rock-ribbed conservative values to re-examine his candidacy:

Okay, so he says he was swayed because Rudy says he’d appoint strict constructionist Supremes.

I’ve said this before, and here we go again:

1. Why do we trust the word of a philanderer?
2. What does he mean by “strict constructionist”?
3. Has Giuliani said that a “strict constructionist” reading of the Constitution would end abortion?
4. So... Giuliani would appoint judges who think he’s wrong, who disagree with him, who’d end something he has no moral qualms about?
5. So... are we supposed to think that Giuliani thinks Giuliani is wrong? Then why doesn’t he change his position?

This amounts to a wink-wink to me.

You were a bit severe on the excerpting. The point of the editorial would be clearer if you'd included: [Mayor Guiliani] won an endorsement from uber-conservative Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Perry's endorsement brings incredible conservative street cred to the Giuliani campaign nearly 90 days before the first primary vote is cast.

I'm not pushing for Mayor Giuliani, but this question of yours leads me to ask: what if a candidate believes that a strict constructionist reading of the Constitution leaves the issue to the states??? Is supporting the Constitution not good enough?

Perry has not stepped up to stop illegals crossing our border, has tried to sell our highways to foreign companies, and tried to push unrequired vaccinations that would only benefit one company on our children. Conservative this guy isn’t.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is at best a moderate.
This shouldn’t be a surprise.
Perry has received campaign contributions from Cintra.
Cintra is financing the construction of the Trans Texas Corridor(NAFTA Super highway).
Cintra is represented by Giuliani’s law firm(Bracewell and Giuliani).

Rudy is an agent for a foreign company that gets foreign government money to buy part of Texas.

Well the answer is No because strict constructionist judges wouldn't end abortion. They would give the ablilty to get an abortion back with the states, which is where it belongs, in the state houses. I suspect NY and NJ will keep it legal and the south will have stricter laws. Over turning Roe, does not end abortion and to suggest it means you are either not informed on the issue or being intentionally misleading. Roe can go and lets put the decision back with the states where it belongs in the first place.

Toll road and the bought governor of Texas Perry!

Property protections were dashed with the veto of an eminent domain bill TxDOT didn’t like.
Another bill that would have required TxDOT to consider using existing highway routes for future TTC routes was struck down.
A bill that called on the Attorney General to study the impact of international agreements on Texas was ridiculed by the Commission and also vetoed by the Governor.

A few more vetoes smack of retaliation dealt to those who opposed the Governor’s view of the TTC, HPV, TYC or education during the session.

It is truly incredible to see a Governor who’s actions are completely disconnected from the people he is sworn to represent.
His actions are at odds with his own political party party platform and leadership, they are in conflict with overwhelming public opinion, they offend a wide variety of large organizations that previously supported his election, they fly in the face of the virtually unanimous will of the Legislature.
Who can help but wonder who Governor Perry represents and who’s interests is he protecting?

Now the stage is set for the Commission to demonstrate just how far they will go to protect their Spanish partner.
Despite incredible pressure North Texas has rejected the Governor’s pre-selected private business benefactor.
Will the Commission continue their now routine pattern of putting what Perry wants first and the people want last?
Sadly, we believe that our Governor serves the money brokers, not the people.
He has demonstrated that his loyalty is not with the people of Texas, but resides exclusively with those who can provide the kind of money that can further personal and political ambition.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is being called to task by an author and investigative journalist for vetoing bills that would have blocked construction of the controversial Trans-Texas Corridor. Dr. Jerome Corsi has been one of the leading voices warning the American public about the consequences of the Trans-Texas Corridor, which will be part of a superhighway -- purported to be four football fields wide -- that will allow Mexican trucks to enter the U.S. and traverse the core of the country all the way to Canada.

The best-selling author asserts that Governor Perry cleared the way for construction to begin in his state when he vetoed several bills passed by the Legislature that would have stalled the project. "Governor Perry has been 100 percent gung-ho in building this road," says Corsi. "The Legislature voted a two-year moratorium, it voted a redefinition of eminent domain -- [and] Governor Perry vetoed them. [On] at least one of those measures, he waited until the Texas Legislature was out of session so it couldn't even override his veto." Corsi says it is unfortunate that there has been political pressure to get the project started.

"The Federal Highway Administration's lawyer wrote letters threatening the Texas Legislature to cut off federal highway funds if they got in the way of this Trans-Texas Corridor," he says. Corsi believes the same pressure will be applied on other states, like Oklahoma, to go along with the project. He suggests that would mean a loss of more American jobs and could pose a threat to U.S. sovereignty.

The Schiavo/Schindler case was where the dishonesty of Randall Terry came out, showing that his true aim was not to return the issue to the states. I guess it was looking like the fight against Federal protection of abortion was going well, so he had to set back the fight to keep his nice gig going. :-(

Gov Rick Perry does a Dixie Chick---criticizes the US while in a foreign country. Is Perry collaborating with a foreign government to influence the policies of the US government on the issue of amnesty for illegals?

Gov Perry endorsed Giuliani's candidacy-----does candidate Giuliani agree with collaborating with foreign governments to change US policies?

We need rational leaders who understand the dimensions of the problem. Perry and Giuliani are not among this group.

Rick Perry on Tuesday criticized the U.S. Congress for failing to pass an immigration bill that would legalize millions of workers.
