UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Tough going indeed...we had my dad (age 94) on home hospice for the last two weeks of his life, which ended about 6 weeks ago.
The night after he died, the power went off in the home, which would have caused big problems with the 02 machine.

I’m so sorry about your dad. When my dad had to go to assited living because of advanced COPD, he had such a hard time doing it. The day we moved him, all of a sudden and out of the blue, the electricity went off. Well, that’s when he realized it was time to go. God works in mysterious ways. Prayers to you and your family.

Similarly, the only problem with Trader Joe’s is that it is filled with Trader Joe’s customers....some of the snootiest, rudest snobs I’ve ever had the misfortune to meet (Long Island). They make the clientele at the Garden City Starbucks seem like long lost friends.

After a 25 year career with TWA then American, after her layoff due to 9/11, my sister was hired by Trader Joe’s in a suburb of St. Louis. Within one year she was promoted a few times, received several raises and a bonus. She absolutely loves her work and the customers. Being in management, she transfers from store to store but she said all the clientele is wonderful. The company is the best to its employees, too.
