UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

I heard a Hawthorne police officer saying he had worked 28 straight hours up in Santa Clarita. Apparently a whole squad of officers from Torrance, Hawthorne, El Segundo, etc. were on that long. Either forgotten or not having replacements.
Wow,Thanks BurbankKarl.
Duncan Hunter will be on KUSI in the next few minutes, once Joe Lizura ends his weather cast.

The winds aren’t as bad as yesterday, are they? Maybe they can get a chance to knock some of em down..
Looked like they’d died down this morning. But last time I looked on FNC, gusts were between 30 and 40 MPH, though that’s much better yesterday.
I think those are NOT the classic California Freeways....just 2 or maybe 4 lane State Hwys....
OMG! I am watching the MOST hilarious “off camera” moment- on the local FOX station- they went to a commercial- but they left the studio camera ON the desk- the woman news reader put her head down on the desk- then the make-up/hair gal came in and started fiddling with the newsman’s HAIR- brushing, combing with can of hair spray at the ready- WHAT A HOOT! :)
Did anyone hear the interview that Bill Handel just did with a lady in the stadium in the SD area?
I am SO PROUD of those people......
They arent shooting at helicopters?
I didn’t, I am watching the local tv news, Ch 9. The gal is out at Qualcomm showing how organized things are, and focusing on all the volunteers showing up.
LOL! Sorry I missed it :)
Excellent news on the C130s. Thx!
Just getting back online here.. Let’s hope they can lay a few big wet ones on the fires or at least the houses.. and save what they can.
Prayers for all those on the ground and in the air doing all they can to save and protect who and what they can in a massive SoCal FiRestorm. It takes a lot of fuel to feed beasts like what we are witnessing.
Qualcomm is a mini-city.
That’s a nasty hill!
Praying that all of your relatives are safe Myrddin.
