Malibu Castle, which perished in today’s fire, was actually in Escrow and set to have the final walk-though on Wednesday.
The deal was expected to close this Friday, and while the final selling price can’t be confirmed, it had an asking price of $17 million.
The home is owned by socialite Lilly Lawrence, who was not home at the time of the blaze.
Famed director James Cameron has been evacuated from his Malibu home.
Stoopid fingers.
There’s a closing that ain’t gonna happen.
Is that a new fire in Moorpark? Or the Malibu fire?
Hope someone who knows chimes in soon. I'm in Camarillo, looking out my window toward Moorpark at a solid wall of brown-black smoke. It seems much too close and thick to be from Castaic. Of course all the TV folks can talk about is Malibu where the rich and famous live.
Not offhand but there have been plenty of documented instances that I've read about over the years.
Right now, Firefighters are risking their lives to PUT out fires and you make a statement like that. My nephew and my children’s uncle are Firefighters.
Hero doesn’t even come close to what they are. They are brave, caring Christian men that would die doing their job. I know of one ex- Fireman that started fires so he could report them. I am loathe to even type his name. He is in prison now for the death of a family friend and her beautiful little grandson. I pray he never knows freedom again. He should have had the death sentence.
Prayers for all those in the fire’s way and for the fire-fighters.
I was going to post something back to you that would had me banned for sure. But I realized that would have been a waste on my part.
Didn't Malibu get hit pretty bad this time last year?
Firefighters have my utmost respect. Arsonists do not, and I agree with you about death sentences. You're taking offense where none was intended. But if you want to ignore the truth that's fine with me. My statement was/is accurate.
I have great respect for teachers and Scout leaders too, even though occasionally a small number of them are pedophiles. Seems to me you're exhibiting the liberal trait of going out of your way to find something to be offended by.
No, I have family that are fighting these fires right now and you want to smear their profession because of a few rotten eggs. I am offended, but not a liberal! Your post was off-point and you used the tired old liberal “slip in the dagger” about psychos/arsonists.
Significant blowup in the fire in Canyon Country (Agua Dulce) fire, 10 structures reported burned, likely double that now, actually. Fire well over 10,000 acres - there’s another fire down by Tustin, trying to find out details right now.
I was being ironic.
Every year, pretty much the same areas of Southern California burn. Every year, the news media treat it like it's a sensation.
I’ve got a brother who’s L.A.Co. Fire and may be on the line at Agua Dulce RIGHT NOW, so your remarks don’t sit well with me.
Yeah, there’ve been a few renegades over the years, but their numbers are so nearly insignificant in comparison to the firefighting population as a whole that suggesting one or more of the present fires is the work of a renegade FF is going to be viewed as you taking abject speculation to an offensive extreme, unless you come to the table with hard evidence. Lacking that, it’s better to just leave off making that kind of comment in the first place.
