Today's Daytona Beach News-Journal, a decidedly liberal-leaning rag, reports on the charity auction in an article entitled Scathing letter from Democrats about Limbaugh nets $2.1M on eBay.
This article, while surprisingly rather fair in tone for the News-Journal (although the article does attempt to give credit to Harry Reid at the end), appears on page 6 of the LOCAL section, right next to the OBITUARIES!
I do ebay a lot. I noticed when they have big charity auctions, they post it on the front page. In fact, yesterday I noticed some small articles from stars up for breast cancer.
When they had a Diana dress, although it never sold, it was on the front page for at least a week.
Rush broke all records, and it was never, ever there that I saw.
Small below-the-fold paragraph on 5A.
The auction proved we don’t need them anymore.
They can go to hell.
Come to think of it, they’re on their way.
Ain’t life great!
You mean, the old paper-based newspapers? They still sell those things?
Albuquerque Journal: Below the fold on A4 - very small article which continues the lie that Rush said what Reid claimed, which of course is BS.
I believe the head of ebay tends conservative, unlike most dotcommers.
I was unable to find it in the Grand Rapids (MI) Press this morning.
Unbelievable.
The Saturday Rocky Mountain News had an article with Rush’s picture on Page 30. In an article under the byline of Stephanie Strom of the New York Times, the auction itself was fairly reported but the opening paragraph completely misrepresented Rush’s comments on “phony soldiers.” Figures.
I'm impressed.
And more than just a little surprised.
The left is in the business of promoting news that favors their leftist causes and suppressing those that favor the right. This was nowhere in the news.
However, they don’t hesitate to cover the “Toast Virgin Mary” stories.

Spouting the company line about ‘phony soldiers’
Oh well, it is Boulder !
The MSM are like lemmings. Their first reaction was to ignore it, which they did for several days. Then, when it was too widely known to ignore, their second reaction was to spin it.
So, they repeat Harry Reid’s scathing accusations against Rush, but fail to point out that it was a lie. And they give the impression that it was the saintly Harry Reid who should be thanked for raising this money for charity.
If there is any effort to give the truth, it is well down toward the bottom of these article. Most readers will not read that far, and will come away with a totally false impression of the story.
I saw her on TV—a sensible, nicely-spoken woman in her fifties. A real role model for our young potentially conservative daughters—though she’d have to look like Ann to get much play here on FR.
The article is from West palm Beach and is the official AP piece on the subject. It will be the article used in the majority of newspapers, those that rely on the AP for national news.
I am suprised at the lack of bias. It covers the subject pretty well.
Disclaimer: I am an AP hater.
Who reads the new paper?? I quit that about the time I got my first computer. Of course you may mean the New Paper on line.
If it appeared at all in the San Jose Mercury News, they buried it so well that I didn’t see it reported.
I live in Sacramento, Rush’s adopted hometown, so in the Sacramento Bee there was a picture and the beginning of the story on the front page above the fold. Then you had to turn to another page for the rest of the story.
