Breaking: Tanker Truck stolen at gunpoint in Baltimore, last seen heading North on I-95

(WJZ) BALTIMORE WJZ.COM has learned a fuel truck has been stolen from a gas station in South Baltimore.

Officials say that the truck operator was refilling the gas tubes at a gas station on 3100 block of Vera Street, when a black male, wearing a blue jump suit, got into the driver seat and took off.

Police say the driver tried to get back in the truck, but the suspect pointed a gun at the driver and told him to get out of the truck.

The truck is described as a 1997 Peterbilt with dark wood. On one side it says "Baltimore Tank Lines." There is also a silver trailer attached to the truck.

The truck's Maryland license plate is 436-F45 and the tanker has Maine license plate 126-8185.

There may be some front end damage to the truck, because the suspect struck a fence on his way out.

The truck was last seen heading toward Interstate 95.

The driver was not injured.

An initial news release indicated the incident occurred at 9 a.m., not 5 a.m.

I was thinking about your post about coveralls. I was traveling yesterday at stopped at a truck stop for gas. I decided to get something from Arby’s while I was there. There were 3 truck drivers in line. They had navy coveralls on and all had suede type boots on with their pants legs tucked in. I remember thinking “is this the new trucker look?”

You are correct — I am incorrect and blame a brain fart for my error.

Cheers . . .

“3100 block of Vera St. in an industrial section of the city’s Curtis Bay neighborhood.”

Hmmm, Curtis Bay. Could easily get on 695 or 895. Would have to cross the bridge or go thru a tunnel though. Probably sitting in a warehouse right now. New tractor, new tag on the trailer (Balto. Tank pretty common), see ya.

Hope he doesn’t have plans to use it as a bomb.

Saw this story on Drudge Report: http://www.local6.com/news/14371886/detail.html

“ORLANDO, Fla. — Several arrests involving custom-built trucks with hidden trapdoors used to siphon hundreds of gallons of gasoline may be linked to an organized crime ring targeting stations.”

Maybe this guy thinks he has a better idea. ;-)

Is Fox on this chase yet?
If not, why not? After all, it’s bigger than Britney.

Are you sure it’s bigger than Britney? Is the guys scantily clad? Prone to flashing? If not, where are your priorities, woman?

They said he started to fill his truck at 5:00 am, but, when he got back in his truck he was hijacked with a semi-automatic weapon.

Anyone know how long it takes to fill up a tanker? probably not 3 hours, so who knows.

Either way, one thing we can all agree on is that the truck still hasn’t been found.

Heading in that direction soon, hopefully traffic will be ok - Friday is never a good traffic day though.

Cindy, were they from different trucking companies? If so, I wonder if it is some kind of OSHA req. like a fire retartrdant material or just fabric resistant to petro. products. Great observation...makes this theft seem much more planned. Makes ya hmmmmmm.....
