SUBIC BAY, Republic of Philippines (Oct. 16, 2007) - Cmdr. Todd A. Lewis, commanding officer of the USS Tortuga (LSD 46), interacts with the students of Gordon Heights Elementary School while conducting a community relations project in the Republic of Philippines. Tortuga is a dock landing ship serving under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 7/Task Force 76 and is conducting Exercises Talon Vision and Phiblex 08. The training exercises will run concurrently from Oct. 15-31, and will partner 2,700 U.S. and 1,300 Philippine military personnel for two weeks of training emphasizing the importance of supporting the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region. KABAL, Afghanistan (Oct. 13, 2007) - Cmdr. Francis Williams and Personnel Specialist 3rd Class Ashley Urbanski, the longest and shortest serving Sailors at Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A), cut a cake before a gathering of Sailors celebrating the Navys 232nd birthday at Camp Eggers. (Oct. 12, 2007) - Lt. Cmdr. Manny Santiago, attached to Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), explains the ships casualty and receiving area to a couple of Miami Dolphins cheerleaders during a tour of Comfort while off the coast of Miami. Comfort completed a four-month humanitarian deployment to Latin America and the Caribbean providing medical care to patients in a dozen countries.
