So, the school needs a parent’s permission to give a child an aspirin, but the kid can get birth control without a parent being notified. Makes perfect sense. *shaking head in disgust*
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
Another reason my kids are not going to government schools.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
Yeah....and forget that cough medicine......but, birth control is OKEY DOKEY....the (dishonorable) boys/men will LOVE IT!
An adult woman needs to see a Doctor and get a prescription for the types of birth control described in this article, but an eleven year old girl can just beebop into the school nurse’s office with no parental notification?
The “state” is usurping parental rights and control over their own children inch by inch. IMHO, this is a very serious issue on several levels. Off the top of my head:
1. Health implications for young girls’ bodies
2. Sex with a minor is ILLEGAL (the age of consent in Maine is 16)
3. Usurping of parental rights
Birth control pills can be dangerous drugs with severe side effects, especially in the hands of immature children. What happens if one of these girls decides to take several at a time? I hope the parents of the first girl to suffer side effects from the pill sues the school system into oblivion.
Moral issues aside, the silly liberals in Maine are so blinded by their ideology that they aren’t even considering the huge potential tort liability.
I think your tagline says it all.
The state is attempting to dictate morality, even to our children.
Yet, you can't take that very same child to the dentist to have her teeth cleaned w/o parental notification.
How nice
Crazy, isn’t it? My homeschooled kids are involved in a lot of extracurricular activities, and I’m constantly signing releases for them to participate in scouting, various sports, youth group activities, etc. I’ve even had to sign releases several times for my children to be photographed at events.
We need parental permission for photographs to be taken, but it’s perfectly okay for invasive medical exams to be given and dangerous drugs to be administered without even notifying the parents? Bizarre.
That’s it, I give up.
Kids are suspended for bringing an an aspirin, ibuprofen, or Tylenol.
But dispensing reproductive health care and birth control for girls is fine.
Mike Gallagher was on there this morning saying something about outraged parents in Portland having some sort of revolution. I shouted at my radio, “what the heck are you talking about, well over half of those parents are crazed moonbats!” And so it goes.
God is going to punish all of us for this someday.
This is the most disgusting thing I have heard. Everyday it is a new and gross liberal idea.
Your children are not yours, they are the states. If you live in the Northeast or the West Coast, get used to it because majorities of Americans are freaking morons like the shmuck quoted in the article.
This situation is screaming - lawsuit. This school board decision is beyond bizarre and imho, illegal.
Regardless of all the other issues, remember, the age of consent in Maine is 16. Sex with a minor is illegal.

I think I know this guy. He was married to a teacher I had. I know they divorced and he remarried....his kids with the 2nd wife would be about Jr. High age.
AND.....I completely agree with this guy, but likely not for the same reasons. I'm 100% positive that HIS kids aren't getting any guidance whatsoever. This guy (assuming he's the same person) was a complete idiot....too dumb to come in out of the rain. I wouldn't trust his guidance on directions to the bathroom, never mind something that was actually important.
Liberal projection is a fascinating thing.
“Your children are not yours, they are the states...”
What chance do we have to educate the sheeple when so many are ready to run with the herd and vote for Hillery? If the title “It takes a village” does not offend them then what will?
I haven’t heard the term “shmuck” in a long time. It is appropriate but I had to laugh to keep from crying.
