Does the theme song from The Great Escape count? It doesn’t have any lyrics, but it is a catchy tune...
Sure,Thanks stefanbatory

You have to hum it.
Don’t know the name of the tune (from The Great Escape), but there are words to it. It is one of those on-going, ad-lib marching tunes for soldiers. One verse I recall goes something like:
Mable,
I love you Mable.
Love you much more than I am able.
But I am giving
My love to Linda.
She is the one girl for me.
And on and on rhyming with different girl’s names.
It has a descant (counter-melody) too. I think it goes:
Fickle. Fickle.
Dollar to a nickle.
Fickle. Fickle.
She is the one girl for me.
I don’t know who wrote the “The Great Escape” theme, but it reminds me of the theme from “The Bridge Over The River Kwai”. I wonder if it was written by the same person or if it was an attempt to write a similar theme.
My favorite too. Great music by Elmer Bernstein.
