Pelosi Wavering on Armenian Resolution Email Share October 16, 2007 5:39 PM

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos Reports: According to Congressional and Bush administration sources, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is now unlikely to bring a resolution which would label the deaths of Armenians in a conflict more than 90 years ago as "genocide".

Pelosi, as recently as Sunday on "This Week", has repeatedly said she would call the controversial but nonbinding resolution for a vote despite the opposition of the Bush administration and warnings that it could damage U.S. relations with Turkey.

President Bush called Speaker Pelosi on Monday night and asked her to pull the bill. But Congressional sources say that Pelosi is telling House members that she will not bring the bill to the floor without majority support.

At least seven House members have withdrawn as co-sponsors of the bill and several more are expected to follow. Key Pelosi ally Rep. John Murtha, D-Penn., is also lobbying against a vote.

Key House members continue to canvass members but don't expect a vote this year

How incompetent can this woman bet to have even John Murtha questioning her tactics.

This could blow out to be one of the biggest stinkers in U.S. history, and they all know it. They don’t want to back down, but don’t want to go down as the traitors they are either in the history books either.

Thank goodness! The press has been blasting her to dust. Today's Wall Street Journal editorial sounded as though it had been written by freepers.

The problem for the U.S. now, not that Pelosi and her ilk care, is that all the rest of the world is going to know or see is that Turkey made the United States back down by withdrawing her ambassador. Makes us look like wimps. Wonder how many Bin Laden’s will be emboldened by Pelosi’s political move?

She is such a tool. I also love the fact that Cindy Sheehan is driving her and her neighbors nuts. May karma continue its good work...

Hillary is no better. These two idiots should be limited to cutting ribbons at shopping center openings.
That's as much "politics" as they are capable of

We need to have one of those Fox type “swoosh” sounds every time Pelosi or Reid fail in yet another one of their schemes.

FAILED AGAIN *swoosh*

I guess we all should have known she’d wave the white flag and surrender. This time I’m glad she did.

My plan for Nan’s sabotage:

“I hereby direct the sheriff of this county to remove you from this courtroom forthwith, and to transport you to the gallows, where before sundown this day you are to be hanged by the neck until dead; your body left to be picked at by the crows, until the Sheriff directs it to be cut down, drug to a shallow grave in unhallowed ground, and buried face down in the dirt.”

Pelosi did this for one reason. She wanted a bargaining chip for SCHIP.

No kidding. I was grudgingly giving credit to the dem aholes figuring they were helping to bring pressure on Turkey to back down against the Kurds in Iraq. Maybe they did and it worked and now they can pull the idea. Turkey did pull back.

SCHIP=Exhibit A of why socialism is societal poison. People will cheat to obtain benefits they would otherwise not qualify for. That means honest people get screwed and cheaters prosper. That means honest people give up trying to achieve or hire accountants to move their money out of the country. Socialism is poison.

I SO agree...but did she have to stir up the animosity first?

(rhetorical question, of course!)
