Air America Host Randi Rhodes Mugged

Air America Radio host Randi Rhodes was mugged near her Manhattan apartment Sunday night, losing several teeth in a brutal attack that has knocked her off the air while she recuperates, fellow host Jon Elliott announced on his show early Tuesday morning.
"It is with sadness that tonight I inform you that my Air America colleague Randi Rhodes was assaulted last night while walking her dog near her New York City home," Elliott told his listeners this morning on Air America.
The attack took place near the corner of 39th Street and Park Avenue, Elliot said.
Because Rhodes was wearing a jogging suit and had neither a purse nor jewelry, Elliott speculated that "this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging."
"Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own?" he asked on the air. "Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we're winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?"
Rhodes has been with Air America Radio since it launched in 2004, becoming a mainstay of the national liberal radio network. Her show airs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern weekdays. Lionel filled in for her show Monday afternoon, but no announcement was made of the reason.
An Air America representative confirmed Tuesday morning that Rhodes was mugged. Calls have been made to Rhodes and the New York City police department's press office, and as more details become available they'll be reported here.
It started as a rape. Then she let him have an earful of her whiny, nasal bitching. He’s now considering a career change.
If they check the voter registration card of the mugger - if he is ever caught - I will bet that he is a registered Democrat.
She was exhausted from her busy day calling for the assassination of the President.

As they say, a face for radio.That is the first time I ever saw a picture of her, and you are correct "face for radio". I wouldn't have known her from any other person, but I was in Texas anyway.

Her fans are going to claim that this was a political attack (like anyone out on the street knows what Air America is!), but Randi herself will know different. Little by little, this is how the left has been losing its faithful.
She was only carrying American dollars!
You know, they say a Conservative is a Liberal who has been mugged. But I don't think that every mugging will yield a conservative any more than I thought Joan Rivers would become a conservative when PETA threw fake blood on her fur coat (right before she went on the air for her radio show).

Sounds like one of the Clinton Machines Jack Booted, Brown Shirted Thugs decided to get dear ole Randi back on the Hillary bandwagon away from John Edwards.
The story in the link at Drudge’s site reports that - “According to Elliott, Rhodes was resting in her New York City apartment and was not hospitalized.”
And -
“Morning talk host, Lionel filled in for Rhodes on Monday, but did not say anything about why she wasn’t on hand to do her show. The Randi Rhodes board reports that Sam Seder, who does a Sunday afternoon show for AAR, will be filling on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Story says, “Elliott was extremely agitated when he reported on the incident.” (on his show) And, the story goes on to quote Elliott’s Right-Wing attack theory.
I wish her only the best of health, and hope for the perp or perps to be caught, if she was mugged, no matter what their political persuasion. But, since there appears to be a right-wing smear attached to the incident, the cynic in me cautions a wait and see the evidence attitude.
There are any number of scenarios that can be imagined, from right-wing hit to left-wing publicity stunt. So, I’ll just wish her the best of health and see how it all plays out.
She’s lucky all she lost were some teeth. It could have been much worse. (I was mugged in NYC years ago- boys had lots of knives)
When I first saw this report, I ventured over to Air America’s website forums (like heading to a NASCAR race, all shots are up-to-date) to see what they had to say.
Through the stench of the typical “right-wing” plot on Randi I got the best laugh out of the poster who claimed Blackwater organized this hit against her.
Maybe the dog was in on the hit????????????????
