Dems: Ending the War Through Turkey?

Posted on 10/15/2007 9:42:01 AM PDT by minus_273

We've discussed the possibility of a Turkish invasion of northern Iraq in other articles but how will this directly impact us here. Consider this:

Turkey is the source of 70% of all supplies going to Iraq. The Democratic congress has deliberately antagonized them during a sensitive period to the extent that there might be war. A Turkish invasion of iraq will cut off most supplies the allied troops in Iraq. Could this be the democrat's plan to end the war?

The added bonus for Democrats is that the kurdish north is peaceful. Starting a war there will set back gains and divert american troops who are making gains in other parts of the country. It will also result in added casualties with combat now occuring in a place that has only a handful of coalition troops.

Overall this looks like an evil masterstroke. Cut off the troops by voting for another resolution that is only symbolic and can't be directly tied to the fighting. Cause more instalibilty, rollback the gains of the surge, destabilize peaceful parts of iraq (the parts you dont hear about in the news) and cause a surge in casualties.

I say to the Turkish Army - Bring it on. I know a few good men and some kurds could really put the hurt on the Turkish army. We could (through sof teams) really make it a painful advance for them and a nightmare occupation of northern Kurdish territory. We owe the Kurds our protection, they have always been there for us, Turkey on the other hand is a back stabbing nation that has an alliance with the Russians and the Iranians.

turkey is also has a ton of US bases that support iraq. As i said, without turkey 70% of supplies need to be diverted. It also cuts off access to the mediterranean. Its really messed up.

We have the emirates and the gulf states + kuwait. We could make do if need be, and also do air drop resupplies.

UH you do know that Turkey is a NATO ally.

When is Nancy going to piss off France, which is not officially part of NATO's military operations.

She won't because that would not damage our troops or the WOT.

Alliances shift and change. I don’t trust Turkey at all. If they invade northern Iraq their status as an ally changes.

You are missing the point...it’s not about Turkey’s blustering, it is about the Dems stirring Turkey up with that resolution, otherwise this issue could be dealt with diplomatically and the supply line would be secure.

there is no possible good out come for our side for this. The winners will be the fascists and democrats. They are going to get spectacualr headlines out of this.

It’s so evil yet so brilliant. I am in awe at how easily they have done so much damage.

but there was no reason to provoke this invasion. The dems are using the turkish military to fight a proxy war against the coalition in iraq.

Can’t (I don’t think so anyway, never seen it) airdrop fuel. 30+ % of our fuel comes out of Incirlik. I don’t know how we would support operations in the north without resupply from, and overflight of Turkey.

Its rediculous for the dems to bring this resolution up now. In my mind its a stupid resolution to get upset about anyway. Only Islamojobs would get upset about something that happened during ww1. Turkey, as of 2003 has not been our ally. Resolution or not, if they invade northern Iraq their status as an ally completely changes. Green light go for making their advance onto our Kurdish allies painful.

I don’t think you understand.

The Dems are using Turkey to get at Bush. Just as things are stabilizing in Iraq, they introduce a bill that purposely de-stabilizes Iraq.

The bill condemns Turkey for something that the UN has already condemned, which happened a century ago.

Time for a reality check.

This wouldn’t have been possible if the Whitehouse had not gone out of its way to infuriate those of us that supported it in the 2004 election cycle.

The simple fact is Dems are in control of the Senate and the House in large part due to the President’s own actions since his second Inaugural.

If only this could make the MSM, and be explained slowly and carefully enough, so that even Demwits could understand the intent and repercussions.

Problem is it won’t end the war. If successful it will signal the beginning of WW III that even the blindest on earth will not be able to ignore. It would be just a signal, the war has been cooking for quite a while, on simmer.
