Notice that they don’t mention why the dentists are going private. My guess is because they’re tired of dealing with the socialist medicine bureaycracy.

The dentists are the leading edge of the trend. Since the are the most flexible of providers with low barriers to entry, a private system of dentists is evolving quickly.
But the rest of the UK medical establishment will follow. In twenty years, the UK will have universal substandard care, but anybody with two nickels to rub together is going to pay whatever it takes to get into expensive private-run programs.
It will be the worst of all possible worlds, with productive Britains having both a crushing tax burden and a crushing insurance burden. But what else can you do? Stand in line to wait for the Defibrillator?

Americans healthcare services are already tiered. Most folks have health insurance and make the most of it. If you have insurance and want a Doctor who will KNOW you; pay up an additional annual fee of about $1,500 for a “concierge” service like MDVIP. Doctors in this type practice will see you any time without the BS.
There are certainly higher thresholds and frankly they are worth every penny.
