For the first time this nation is beginning to express a moral stance regarding a Muslim state and its atrocities against Armenian Christians.
Bribes, payments, propaganda, arms and other business deals, fear, and dhimmification are not enough to stop the expression of moral outrage against this corrupt parastate.
The Assyiran and Greek people also have claims of genocide against these muslim monsters.
Timing? There are contingency plans for this. Fear not. We do not need Turkey. In fact, the end is near for Turkey.
The statement will not do any damage to our military.
Your assumption that it will sets up an illogical conclusion.
This is what happens when a feminst bitch gets power. She thinks she can handle everything, when in fact she can’t handle anything.
If the Turks follow through with their promise to cut off access to their airspace and our bases there for resupply it will indeed do damage to our military. I can’t believe you’re so blinded that you can’t see this. The resolution will not bring back one life. It may, on the other hand, endanger thousands. Stupidity, and the Democrats are pushing it. You’re blinded by your hate of the Turks.
Madam Speaker, is behaving like a disenchanted spouse in a divorce case....destroy everything, if I don’t get my way...
Russia is a friend and ally and should be nurtured in this respect.
It’s a damned shame that the Leninist-Marxist monsters who took over in 1918 led to so many years of horror.
Now is the time to cultivate Russia as a friend and ally.
NO you are blinded by the politics of expediency and realpolitik. Stinks bad.
We need to do the right thing...finally.
We will be rewarded.
No,
It is very sad, very ominous, and very certain, that Bush needs to get out in front of this before the left can scream "Bush's fault" because Turkey turned to crap in our path. He needs to get out in front to hammer the American people with the FACT that it was a demo/socialist coven that finally pushed Turkey over the edge, finally put the knife into the Kurd's back, and finally managed to make our efforts in Iraq into a quagmire.
It can no longer be treated as an international, WOT, event - he needs to react NOW to make it clear that this entire episode is a created crisis intended by Pelosi, Kennedy, and cohorts as a means to undermine US foreign policy and national interests.
It's an issue that must be dealt with as internal and no longer international.
Otherwise, we lose.
Odds are that Jorge will simply continue to go through the motions while concentrating on his obligations to a neighboring cess pool.
Who are we afraid of? The event needs to be recognized.
Turkey used to be a good ally. Not anymore.
Congress is not being asked to look at the whole of western civ massacres. Just this one.
Maybe the plot to assassinate Putin in Iran, will wake the Russians up about who they should trust.
Maybe the plot to assassinate Putin in Iran, will wake the Russians up about who they should trust.
Yes.
The US has already done much -- ex-president Theodore Roosevelt condemned it; The US arranged for relief to the sufferers; Reagan called it genocide (1981); Bush, as other presidents before him, gives speeches talking about the terrible annihilation.
But the funny thing is....
In 1997, Pres.Bill Clinton gave himself a waiver of statutory restrictions on Turkey.Let's take a look at Clinton's reasons for treating Turkey well, as stated in his memorandum to CongressPresidential Determination No. 97-24 of May 23, 1997
Waiver of Statutory Restrictions To Permit Assistance to Turkey
Memorandum for the Secretary of State...
Pursuant to subsection (b) of section 620I of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, I hereby determine that it is in the national security interest of the United States that assistance be furnished to Turkey without regard to the restriction in subsection (a) of section 620I.[snip]
It is very much in our national security interests not to terminate U.S. assistance programs for Turkey. Such a termination would create significant difficulties in our bilateral relations, affecting a broad range of national security interests. While we're alienating all our allies, let's make a statement blaming Great Britain for the death, starvation, and forced deportation of tens of thousands of Irish men women and children.Turkey is at the nexus of a number of issues that are critical for the U.S. on the Eurasian continent: securing peace in the Balkans, advancing a settlement in Cyprus and resolution of Aegean issues, containing Iraq and Iran, bringing stability to the Caucasus, implementing the CFE treaty, addressing the future of NATO and bringing Caspian Basin oil to the West.[snip]
Turkey is important for U.S. trade and investment, and has been designated as one of the ten big emerging markets for U.S. companies by the Department of Commerce.
There are over 3,000 uniformed military and civilian DoD personnel (excluding dependents) stationed in Turkey, a democratic, secular nation in a region with weak democratic traditions, and widespread political instability.
Rush ripped this resolution today. Looks like you’re seriously deluded by this resolution and the suspect timing. It also looks like you’re OK with the Democrats torpedoing our efforts in Iraq. Truly disgusting. You should be ashamed.
You’re correct in that the Dems will point the finger at Bush if they succeed in wrecking our relationship with Turkey. Rush covered that aspect today. Good call.
Dumb thoughtless thread.
I’d rather be on the side of Duncan Hunter than a bunch of Islamofascists.
