"... FDR's retinue had plenty of people who had a clear understanding of communism, starting with Alger Hiss and I'm sure many other practicing anti-American communists." Reminds me of Reagan's quote:
"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

I have a DVD of a movie called Big Jim McClean starring John Wayne (my FAVORITE actor and a GREAT American). It co-starred James Arness. It was done around 1952, I think. The plot was that Wayne and Arness were FBI agents sent to the territory of Hawaii to bust up a Communist gang. It had some great footage of the House Unamerican Activities Committee hearings. Hans Conried had a small role as a schizophrenic (he was hilarious).

I started searching on Netflix for some of the movies mentioned in this post, and most are unavailable. What a surprise./s
Netflix is so incredibly lame, they don’t even have John Wayne’s “The Quiet Man” (also with the beautiful Maureen O’Hara). “The Quiet Man” was directed by John Ford who went on to win the Oscar for Best Director for this movie. John Wayne said that it was his personal favorite out of his long career. You can get in on Amazon, though, so the DVD is available.

Topaz by Hitchcock, although not in the same genre as those in the article, was very badly reviewed by the critics for its portrayal of Castro as a murderous thug. The movie was quite good though in typical Hitchcock style.

The Duke, John Wayne made a good one or two also. My favorite was where he was a member of the House Unamerican Activities Committee and working in Hawaii. I think his stage name was Jake. Just not sure. But it starts out with Daniel Webster - yes that Webster - asking: how goes the Constitution?

It looks like the public is bringing back the Hollywood blacklist on its own....George Clooneys movies are starting to bomb attendence-wise, despite the MSMs hypeing them. Thanks for the update & link. Clooney strikes me as a smug idiot.

"I found all of them listed except for Tightrope. " "Man on a Tightrope" was on DishNetwork's FOXMO channel on September 19. I was able to capture it on my DVR.
Another favorite of mine was "Night Crossing"(1981), supposedly based on a true story.

There were a few good anti-communist films made in the 1990s. However, they were made by Chinese dissidents, some of whom ended up under house arrest or under government observation, not by Hollywood.

Look a little closer. It says “save” not “add”. Just because they have a synopsis with picture posted on their web site does not mean the movie is available. They have many movies on their web site that are unavailable.

I would like to add a recent movie. I was surprised that Rush Limbaugh recently recommended it as well. I thought it was one of the best foreign films in recent memory considering the topic...
German with English subtitles.

"Torn Curtain" by Hitchcock...a good anti-commie film.
Even tho it starred the commie Paul Newman.
To: Nateman
"Net flicks" must be different than "Netflix".
Can't find any on Netflix except for "Pickup on South Street".

I correct myself: The title was Big Jim McLain. I misspelled the last name previously, not having the DVD in front of me. I loved the movie. Wayne's girl in the film was Nancy Olson. I don't recall seeing her in any other films. She was pretty, IMO.
