I have a DVD of a movie called Big Jim McClean starring John Wayne (my FAVORITE actor and a GREAT American). It co-starred James Arness. It was done around 1952, I think. The plot was that Wayne and Arness were FBI agents sent to the territory of Hawaii to bust up a Communist gang. It had some great footage of the House Unamerican Activities Committee hearings. Hans Conried had a small role as a schizophrenic (he was hilarious).

I started searching on Netflix for some of the movies mentioned in this post, and most are unavailable. What a surprise./s
Netflix is so incredibly lame, they don’t even have John Wayne’s “The Quiet Man” (also with the beautiful Maureen O’Hara). “The Quiet Man” was directed by John Ford who went on to win the Oscar for Best Director for this movie. John Wayne said that it was his personal favorite out of his long career. You can get in on Amazon, though, so the DVD is available.
