It wasn’t too long ago that people here were listing all the disgusting stuff (like this legislation, for example) that Gray Davis or Cruz Bustamante WOULD HAVE signed if not for Arnold. Arnold was going to keep the rat legislature and all its crazy ideas at bay.
Wow, was the joke ever on us....
I knew that. Was the debate long and drawn out, or a slam-dunk?
We’ve thought about Idaho, Utah, Oregon and Texas, but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes to stay here where our family is. It’s probably more like daydreaming out loud on our part. I don’t believe there is really any conservative utopia we could escape to. The liberal anti-gun PC mentality is everywhere now, and we would be in a new place away from family and conservative friends where they despise Californians.
Thanks for the dose of reality. LOL!
Not everything is better. Medical services are pretty limited in the area. There is a bit more wind than I had anticipated. The ham radio community is much smaller. There aren't enough big bookstores. The variety of restaurants doesn't come close to San Diego. Most of those things are just annoying. Mail order and patience solves some of it.
“Idaho law is firearm friendly.”
Firearm friendly is a strong motivational force for us.
Gun laws are what spur all these discussions of relocation in the first place.
Yup. We did. They didn’t listen. They aren’t listening now about the presidential election. But don’t worry, that won’t stop them from blaming us for the result.
The electricity deregulation debacle caused lots of business in my area to go under in 1999/2000. My employer pulled most of the lighting in my office and raised the internal office temperatures to over 80 F. It was stuffy and stifling to go to the office. The 7.5 mile route to work was taking 40 to 90 minutes EACH way. The increased cost of electricity also impacted overhead costs for the company. Lots of contracts were lost to other places in the country with lower costs than San Diego. That was the situation by 2000/2001. It's much worse today.
That gives you an idea of my daily employment experience. Add the other issues noted before. It wasn't a tough decision to move. It cost me about $45,000 out of pocket to make the escape. About $16,000 of that was actual moving expense. About $16,000 was repair and real estate sales commission. The balance was apartment costs to finish a contract before the final relocation. Most of that came out of the proceeds of selling the house in Mira Mesa. I managed to shove $80,000 of my 18 years of equity into the house in Pocatello. The up side is that the cost of living in Pocatello is much less than San Diego. I'm way ahead after almost 7 years here.
“The 7.5 mile route to work was taking 40 to 90 minutes EACH way.”
Oh, you would have to just shoot me already! Sounds worse than that freeway by Getty Museum-405?
Employment is an issue for us-we would probably have to just wait for retirement. We do have to commute here, and housing in our area is outrageous.
There’s a lot of reasons to get out that have nothing to do with politics.
The lead ammo ban appears to be on use within the narrow region where the critically endangered condors live to avoid lead poisonings.
LOL! Well, call it what you want but you’re an endangered minority in Kali. The rot starts in San Fran and radiates outwards. Even Oakland gets in on the act spitting on Marines. If it was just your hopeless state going it’s own way I wouldn’t mind but the sins of Kali are soon visited on the rest of the nation. I’m glad you enjoy living in Kali. Some body’s got to be there to turn out the lights. Might as well be you.
OK this idiot bill passed. It is NOW time for the gun manufacturers to boycott CA. No guns for ANY reason sold to anyone (especially police) in CA.
Ronnie Barrret set the standard!
We have supported the MFGs with our money for years. It is now time for them to support us by boycotting CA starting NOW, no excuses about “we are trying to work with CA to get the bill modified...”etc. STOP selling in CA now.
(In case you hadn’t noticed I’m POd about this!)
If my state had elected a Muslim for Congress, I’d move.
What’s up with you and yours? You have NO room to talk.
Exactly why I'm bringing this up again. Let's learn a lesson for once.
The criminals will continue to use guns and circumvent the law. The only people who will be affected by this are the law-abiding citizens.
Disgusting nanny-state girly-men. And I said “men”; I’m talking about the entire state, not just their RINO governator.
No, she’s Sarget Shriver’s daughter. Teddy, Bobby, etc., are (were) her uncles.
Good luck with all that.
Your gonna have to start with getting rid of your socialist senators and your RINO governor. Then, just maybe, you will have a chance.
These debates go on for weeks as members visit other members in their offices, and the three main A2 lobbyists go back and forth and staff spends hours with opposing staff in committee offices.
Then there are hearings in two committees in each house. I only saw the Sen Public Safety hearing and final Senate floor debate and it was about typical for a controversial issue, I think it was four on each side. The Assembly is typically more raucous and I would guess it went on much longer over there.
I’m not too worried what these liberal nut jobs are doing. The USSC will be ruling soon that “Congress or any State or Local Government” can restrict individuals from owning firearms.
The Constitution is the law of the land and any restricts placed on the citizens are illegal. The next fight will be the laws being removed from the books.
