S-CHIP de-Frosted (FR Mentioned)
Washington Times ^ | 10-13-07 | Robert Stacy McCain

Posted on 10/13/2007 10:01:46 AM PDT by icwhatudo

A Volvo SUV, a Chevy Suburban and a Ford F-250 may finally bring to an end a long and bitter flame-war between conservative and liberal bloggers over the S-CHIP veto. Michelle Malkin explains, the blogger chorus joins in, and Don Surber sums it up in a song:

(To the tune of frosty the snowman)

Halsey the SCHIPman
Was a workingman, they plead
He wasn't made of dough
But the children know
How he drove 3 S-U-Vs. . . .

People were starting to back off this story but not Michelle Malkin. So many of the supposed "falsehoods" and "debunked" info are dealt with point by point here:

Buying SUVs is how you keep your taxable income down if you have an LLC. I’m sure he used them all in his “wood-working”.

For all the liberal lurkers...not only do I not want the S-CHIP program expanded, I want it canceled! I find it immoral to force taxpayers to pay for the needs and wants of others.

Liberals have now warned conservatives from pursuing this further. They said that they have bloodied and bruised the republicans badly over the Frost issue and if the persist, that liberals will "bruise them" some more.

From the comments section...

"Since I support a national program that ensures health coverage for all citizens, expanding this program to cover 4 million more children seems like a reasonable place to start..."

BINGO, Kevin. You provided the answer to your own question. That is precisely why we don't want it.

Halsey and Bonnie Frost are selfish bums who let their kids go without health insurance. Neither of them cared enough about their kids to go out and get a job that provides insurance, or buy it on their own.

The storied died but no follow up leaving the lie standing uncountered in the MSM.

Typical Leftist lie. Shall we list all the things where they tried to demagogue the issue that the Right ended up wining in the long term.

The Iraq War.

Downing Street Memo

Abu Gharab

Afghanistan

Hillary Care.

Katerina

The Kansas Tornado

Bush National Guard

Swift Vets

Etc etc etc

Rush Limbaugh Phony solider smear

Immigration Reform

Fillibustering Judges

etc etc etc etc etc

The reason the Liberal Left is going into hysterics about the Frost lie blowing up in their faces is they know full well they are losing the PR fight. The ONLY way they can win it is if they stop the Right from fighting back. Thus you get the absurd emotional flames pretending to be “reasoned commentary” from the Drive By media “warning” the Right to back off. They know full well their attempts to massively expand Schip to cover the children of people making $82,000 a year is going destroy the myth they worked so hard to create in 2006 that they were the party of "fiscal responsiblity" that they are in a panic to hush up the facts. The Left in this country can only win on lies. The minute the truth comes out, they lose. The Right should be doing more of this, not backing off.

Then they're living in a fantasy world. Republicans have won this debate in its entirety, and the Libs have been totally discredited.

All the radio stations here in the Cleveland area are saying that the Prez canceled the program. Not that he canceled , by veto, the EXPANSION of the program. That s*cks!

Funny how when Clarence Thomas was nominated, the media invaded his privacy (and perhaps broke the law) by obtaining and publishing the list of videos he rented--in a clear attempt to disgrace and destroy him.

Yet when a family willfully injects itself into a partisan political debate about income levels and government welfare, any available PUBLIC records regarding their income and assets are somehow off limits?

FWIW, I sent this letter to the editor of a paper that gushed over a recent SCIP veto protest:

The recent Tavernier protest of President Bush’s veto of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was ridiculous. Reports of spokespersons like Dr. Zuba calling Bush “mean-spirited and hateful” while drifting off into global warming, Iraq and “wire tapping” demonstrates the real political motivations.

The Bush administration wants to reauthorize SCHIP. They are even promoting an expansion through Senator Martinez’s plan, but Nancy Pelosi won’t bring that up for a vote. For political reasons, she wants Bush to veto her much more radical open ended expansion.

Pelosi’s plan allows states to redefine eligibility of income and age. There are significant indications that some states will double income eligibility from twice the poverty level to four times. That’s $83k for a family of 4 (http://www.nationalcenter.org/NPA560.html). Several states will likely raise eligibility up to age 25 for students in order to make it consistent with their other plans (http://www.physorg.com/pdf105768590.pdf). I bet that bit of information didn’t make it onto any banners. I didn’t see it near the one photographed and held by a cute little girl reading “MOMMY WHY DOESN’T PRESIDENT BUSH WANT ME TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE”. It’s not Bush that’s playing politics with children’s health.

I missed the show, but was there any banners saying “THANK YOU SMOKERS”? After all, those poor addicted people are the ones regressively taxed to pay for Pelosi’s expansion, at least until smokers find non-taxable ways to service their addiction? Then the money comes from the rest of us.

Here's a quote from her web site:

I received an unsolicited e-mail this week from a neighbor of the Frost family, the family held up by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and the entitlement expansionist Democrats. He wrote: They’re good people. Terribly misguided, pathetically leftist buffoons, but still good people. It was a terrible accident and Bonnie is quite beat up with guilt over the events. Lots of neighbors pitched in to cook meals and help out… Bonnie works half time doing freelance editorial work and Halsey, an incredibly disorganized lovable goofball, just can’t seem to hold down a proper job or, when he’s tried, to run a proper company. He’s a millwork carpenter and does great work installing custom interior and exterior trimwork and cabinetry. He should be making great money but can’t get out of his way… …Still, we make choices, right? They have three vehicles - a nice new volvo SUV, a Suburban, and his F250 Ford Pickup work truck, a nice house, and all four kids go to private school. Not sure where the money comes from, but they don’t make all that much. Should they be the poster child for S-CHIP? Heck no….

What kind of jerks would send out an injured child to do their lying for them on nationally broadcasted radio?????

Graeme explained that
1. he was badly injured
2. he got help for his medical expenses via SCHIP
3. Bush would deny that kind of help to other kids.

#1 and #2 were true.

#3 was a lie.

In reality, Bush had a $5 billion increase for SCHIP in his budget.

LOL! That's kind of like the general who leaves the battlefield when the enemy approaches, and then declares victory.

Sound like the guy should join the local Carpenter's union. They have a great apprentice program, great health benefits, and being a lefty doesn't hurt either. The only problem is that our Bob Villa Jr would have to take orders from somebody, and hard core lefties don't like that.

The liberal "bruises" are just a gentle reminder we are in a fight for our liberties. It is a fight no less momentous than that faced by our Founding Fathers against the British occupiers.

National Health Care and the rest of the Hillary agenda will impoverish and crush the entrepreneurial spirit of this nation for generations. With their global warming religion and confiscatory taxation plans the Democrats will not rest until we are all eating dog food and thanking them for making it available to us.

If the Republican Party doesn't have the stomach for this fight then we carry on alone.

Our cause is just--our adversaries are in our sights.

Now is the time to take the risks, press the advantage, and defeat this SCHIP insanity now--as a first step of the long fight against the Hillary dystopian nightmare.

Now is the time to hit back so hard that the liberals never try this again. Too many people at FR have been intimidated into silence because they are afraid that liberals will call them "mean". I say lets go "all in " on this one. The real answers won't come until Mr. Frost is audited by the IRS. I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy, but he is rubbing the American taxpayer's nose in the fact that he has lots of assets and still wants US to pay for him to work "part time". Some of us actually have to work full 40 hour weeks.
