I've seen a significant amount of support on this board for Ann Coulter's recent comments on CNBC. Let me explain why that support is misplaced:
First, as an initial matter, I don't think Coulter's comments about Jews needing to be "perfected" are offensive at all. As an observant Jew, I obviously don't agree with Coulter. But Coulter's remarks here clearly represent standard Christian belief, and it's wrong and intolerant to condemn someone for her basic religious beliefs (provided, of course, that those beliefs don't cause one to do things like blow up Israeli school children or crash airplanes into buildings).
That being said, Coulter said more than standard Christian dogma. In explaining why the 2004 GOP convention was "like heaven," Coulter said "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." That's flatly wrong and blatantly offensive -- attendees at the GOP convention included Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics and adherents of several other faiths. In defining the Republican Convention (and, tacitly) the Republican Party as Christian-only, Coulter has done a tremendous disservice to Republicans and conservatives in general. The fact of the matter is that you don't have to be Christian to believe in things like small government, strong national security, legal fidelity to the constitution, and basic moral values. No one here should defend attempts to define conservatism or the Republican Party as limited to believing Christians. . .
As an aside, please don't let this thread be dominated with replies trying to "convince" me that Christianity is right. Suffice it to say that I have heard and rejected every single one of those arguments. But, as is the nature of being a 1% minority, I -- like most Jews -- get missionized quite frequently, which we find very irritating. Kind of like door-to-door salesmen who keep showing up a few times a week and don't always take a polite "no" for an answer.
Hey mom, stop bitching, okay?
Ann stands head and shoulders above such poor commentary as yours.
I like Anne
She is an American Citizen and is free to say whatever she wants.
Its not her fault that the Liberals salivate everytime she speaks.
I think that what she said was the TRUTH.
Biblically, she is as sound as a rock.
The funny thing is that Ann doesn't need the media to distort her words. She does a good job of making herself sound in the manner the media portrays her.
Remember that Ann Coulter is a lawyer thus she uses the language of lawyers.

perfected
adj. having completed all necessary legal steps to achieve a result, such as perfected title to property.
She translated this to a spiritual topic...
Having completed all necessary spiritual (from a Christian perspective) steps to achieve salvation (the ultimate Christian result).
Sorry, I don’t see anything to get upset about.
Wasn’t it Babe Ruth who used to point to the outfield fence he would hit the ball to, then step up to the plate, swing and the ball went right where he said it would.
Ann called it last week, she is demanding her Senate censor letter so she can get it on e-bay next week.
I’m shocked at some of the replies on this thread.
She makes too many outrageous statements that really are not helpful to the conservative cause.

It seems to me that she has gone the way of the celebrity — willing to do just about anything to get a headline. I liked her better just after her first book came off the press. Now she’s getting more and more irrelevant, in my opinion.
Don’t you all know?
Coulter is trying to qualify for a speaking gig at columbia or some such upstanding university........
AS an agnostic I agree with you
And we need to condemn her for that? Sorry, I don't agree. If we condemned people for not fully stating every truth in their propositions, then we'll all be at the bar.
You and me both. I wonder how many screen names Keith Olberdork has? LOL
She just says what all Christians and Jews know but don’t want to talk about.
Sometimes people are friends because they share a common thread.
Each takes what they can get and worries about the detail later.
She implied nothing of the sort.
Get over it.
Go demand an apology from Hymietown Jackson, or J-w B-st-rd Hillary.
You will not find a better friend to Jews than Ann Coulter.
Good God. We have to be smarter than our enemies, folks. Ann doesn't hate Jews. She thinks they need to follow Christ. And we are wanting to condemn her for her religious speech?!
She also happens to be an ardent defender of Israel, and a woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind about the true enemies of freedom: Islamofacists and liberals.
I heard her on Steve Malzberg and she was quoating and Deutsch spun it!
Ann Coulter was on explaining in her words

If she said that, then she and Howard Dean should both apologize for such remarks.
What? Howard Dean got to slide on that one? Hmmmm.
Hogwash. That is not what she meant when she said Christian. She clearly used the term “christian” in the universal sense, not in the sense that someone is of a particular religion. Heck! “Christian” is not even a religion...it is an expression that can mean many things, including something very broad and general, as Ann meant.
No condemnation here.
I have yet to hear anyone high profile from the Jewish perspective find her comments offensive. (Not anyone whose views are rational, anyhow.) Those who are criticizing her are the same ones who think that the Democrat Party supports Israel. But no one rational minded.
If Michael Medved and Dennis Prager do not find her remarks offensive, neither do I.
Besides, lets just leave the conservative-bashing to those what are professionals: the left.
I’ll only change the channel when Ann is on, if its to another channel that she is also on.
