Illegal Sentenced In 'A Christmas Story' Director's Death
KRLA News ^ | OCt 12, 2007

Posted on 10/12/2007 9:31:30 AM PDT by skeeter

A man convicted of causing a crash on Pacific Coast Highway that killed the director of "A Christmas Story'' and his son is scheduled to be sentenced today.

Hector Manuel Velazquez-Nava faces a six-year state prison term.

Velazquez-Nava pleaded no contest to two counts of manslaughter in August in the deaths of Robert Clark and his son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark.

Authorities said Velazquez-Nava, an illegal immigrant, had a blood-alcohol content of .24 -- three times the legal limit.

>>The illegal criminal is only “looking” at 6 years behind bars for killing 2 people? <<

That’s what I don’t get. If that illegal, or anyone of course, kills someone with a “weapon” (I put that in quotes because IMO with a drunk driver behind the wheel a car is most definitely a weapon) they’d be facing (hopefully!) life in prison.

Why is it that when a drunk driver or reckless driver kills someone with their car they face what amounts to a legal slap on the wrist?

I’m beginning to think I’d have a better life in this country if I just started pretending to be an illegal. I’d get free eveything plus a whole political party fighting to give me “rights” and anything I would do would auromatically be excused.

For the life of me I can’t figure out why legal Hispanics would ever support the illegals - why this would be a voting issue at all. It’s gonna cost all citizens, no matter what race.

Here in North Texas an alien savagely murdered a UNT co-ed a few days ago and skedaddled back to MayHeeCo, where he was soon captured, but Mexico won’t extradite him if there’s any chance he could get the needle.

As we say in Alexandria, become an “International Citizen”. No taxes, no responsibilities and as you have said an immediate excuse for all actions. Hell, you don’t even need a drivers license or car insurance to drive.

I hate drunk drivers. An illegal alien drunk driver murdered my friend right after we graduated college. When drunk drivers finally succeed in murdering someone they have already been charged with DUI several times and are often driving with a suspended license. WHEN will the courts take this seriously?

I quite nearly got whacked by a drunk the other night. I'm a police officer and was riding in the passenger seat two nights ago while my partner drove.

We were rolling along in a quiet residential neighborhood, approaching an uncontrolled intersection, when I heard the sound of a loud veh. engine approaching.

I looked to my right and saw a work van barrelling along at 50+ in this residential neighborhood.

I had to scream out loudly, "watch out! Watch out!" My partner stopped our patrol car before we got completely into the intersection. The van skids to a stop into the middle of the intersection.

The height differential between our two vehicles put his bumper and grill at my ear/shoulder level. If I had not cried out then I would have taken a bumper to my head and upper torso.

The driver had 3 prior DUI convictions. Considering out hard it is to get convicted of DUI in this state, and that most cops don't like to work a DUI because it take 3 hours minimum to do the paperwork, just to have some lawyer get the guy off, this guy has probably been pulled over for DUI 10+ times. Not to mention all the times he's been driving drunk and wasn't caught.

I'd bet that all three of his DUI convictions were a result of him having collisions while drunk, as most DUI convictions are lost on the probable cause for the stop.

This past July WA state passed a law that makes your 5th DUI conviction in 10 years a felony. And that supposedly toughened the law up.

My agency had a brand new officer get whacked by a high and drunk woman last year.

“Wherever there are Mexicans, there is Mexico.”

This is a perfect example of that.
I just got back from another ten days in central Mexico.
Drinking and driving is CULTURAL in Mexico.

If you can round ‘em to give them drivers licenses, why not just deport them instead. Seems like a better answer to me.

Why do you think, as a police officer, the laws are so flimsy and the courts don’t throw the book at these drunks? Why, even when people are murdered, are these creeps not severely punished? My theory is that it’s because judges and juries hear drunk driving stories and think, “wow, I’ve driven drunk before in my life, and I was lucky enough to make it home without hitting anyone. This was just a case of bad luck.” What do you think?

“And will this drunken jerk even be deported”

Depends on who is running the country.

“Illegal alien Hector Manuel Velazquez-Nava faces a six-year state prison term...

For brutally murdering two citizens, a Dad and his Son? And this AH is in our country illegally?

Wow!”

A legal citizen would get at least 10.

It’s because the defense lawyer industry has turned DUI cases into big business. The typical DUI lawyer makes 10-15 grand per case.

An officer stops someone for failing to stop completely at a stop sign. See obvious signs of intoxication. Completes the DUI processing and types his report.

The person blows a .18.

Guilty as all hell, right?

Well now is where the fun starts.

Did you forget to put on the back of you ticket that you were in full uniform and driving a marked patrol car? Did you forget to put down that the street you stopped him/her on was a”city street” and not just any old county road?

What about page 9 of the dui packet? Did you photocopy your BBAC card onto the continuation sheet? Did you watch the suspect for the full waiting period to ensure that they put nothing in their mouth, not even their fingers?

Did you actually see them driving or did you come upon the wreck and they were merely climbing out of the car from that side? Because their unnamed friend, who ran away, was really the driver.

Etc, etc, etc, rinse and regurgitate.
