Majorities of young people in America describe modern-day Christianity as judgmental, hypocritical and anti-gay. What's more, many Christians don't even want to call themselves "Christian" because of the baggage that accompanies the label.

I agree. I think I'm going to coin a new term here. I'm going to call it "resultism". It's has the advantage of being objective and "non judgmental". And it's not based on what "might" happen, it's based on what will "probably" happen. To borrow from post #7, homosexuality leads to a depressing, loveless, unhealthy, and barren lifestyle. That's the "probable" result. Then you can just ask people if that's something that they want to promote, aspire to, and encourage. When you "tolerate" homosexuality, i.e. you don't speak out against it, you are encouraging it.
The study is crap. The sample includes a minority of ‘active church-goers’ who are asked if Christians are anti-gay. And they said yes. Duh!
The sample plan is probably nonexistent. The study’s questions are poorly worded.
And the story is put out by USA Today, a syndicated rag that pulls for the atheist left.

Yes, it is. The younger generation discusses their sex lives, physical problems, etc in great detail. I’d be embarrassed to discuss many of the intimate details they have no problem sharing in mixed company.
There is absolutely no possible manner in which the way of the world, which loves sin and rejects Christ, can be reconciled to the way of God, which is narrow and provides only one way out of eternal damnation. To see men who have answered the call of God to be ministers attempt to please the world by ignoring the central, unyielding truth of the Gospel; that is, without Christ one cannot know God or spend eternity with Him, is frightening and immensely dismaying.
I suppose it's just one more sign of the times we live in.

Yes. Unfortunately, many pastors seem afraid of mentioning sin or repentance lest they discourage their more generous contributors! I say, speak the truth boldly and watch how fast your church fills. True Christians will seek you out in droves!
Yes, it would be interesting to look at the cross-tabs and demographics. The concern among the Left is that it’s the right-wing that is having most of the children.
The problem is this. In modern America, most media push the ideas of relativism, that there is no fixed standard of right and wrong, so these kids don’t have a strong sense of themselves as sinners. Acceptance and love, combined with a “go and sin no more” doesn’t register as acceptance and love, but as condemnation. It’s a difference in perspective and the Christians have the right perspective. Each of these kids will face themselves as a sinner one day and, God willing, realize that the people talking to them about morals did so in love and with love and took a bit of a risk to do it.
No I’m afraid it isn’t total BS. It’s a very serious challenge to Christianity. I’m quite sure a great many people really do believe Christians are “judgemental” and “anti-gay”, and that is a problem.
Of course, their definition of “judgemental” and “anti-gay” isn’t the same as mine (or in fact, the same as anyone with half a functioning brain)
I agree absolutely.
!
So youths are judgemental and anti-Christian.
Got it.
May the Lord grant me more opportunities to witness!

Listen for a while. Ask “Are you a spiritual person?” “What is your spirituality?” If you sit back and listen you’ll be shocked at how much people talk . . . if you don’t start talking to them in the first few minutes as they lay out what they believe.
What a BS headline. That headline is based on 'non-Christian youth' not youth in general as the headline implies. What a crook.
And if there was a question in the poll that mirrored each question but instead said ‘have you heard in the media that....(ie. Christians are anti-gay, etc), you would get identical answers. The media puts out the propaganda and then polls to find out how effective they have been in getting their message accepted.
Idiotic. Not sure if this is antidiluvian or just Sodom and Gomorrah levels of moral insanity, but it's one of the two.
From the NIV, Matthew 10:
21”Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 22All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 23When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24”A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub,[c] how much more the members of his household!
And from Matthew 24:
9”Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
All these words were spoken by Jesus. I remember wondering in the 70’s when I became a Christian and learned of these prophecies, how Christianity would ever be persecuted in America. I don’t have to wonder anymore. I’m not surprised at the persecutors; I’m surprised at the majority of people who don’t care about attacks on Christianity.
Here are some warnings from Jesus as well:
Luke 6:26Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.
Luke 16:15
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. KJV
And somehow this is wrong, how?
Book, Chapter and Verse, please.
Sadly, we are both right, and that's what makes this situation so serious and maddening.
