SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards says a tabloid story that he had an extramarital affair is untrue.
"The story is false. It's completely untrue, ridiculous," Edwards told reporters Thursday after he was asked about the National Enquirer report.
The supermarket newspaper reported that the former North Carolina senator had an affair with a woman who worked on his campaign. It did not identify the woman, nor did it name the source of the information for its report.
Edwards said the story was simply "made up" and that he loves his wife, Elizabeth, who is being treated for an incurable form of cancer.
"I've been in love with the same women for 30-plus years and as anybody who's been around us knows, she's an extraordinary human being, warm, loving, beautiful, sexy and as good a person as I have ever known," he said. "So the story's just false."
Yeah, was going to say the same thing. While the Enquirer has a bad rap from way back, it has had probably 10 years worth of credibility.

Here’s the acid test,Edwards is a trial lawyer who’s gotten rich on suing people and if a lie this is a plum ready to be pick. Let’s see if he brings this to court !!!
I’m going to give Edwards the benefit of the doubt on this one. We’re not dealing with Ted Kennedy or Bill Clinton here. He has never been guilty of adultery that we know of.

Actually, my first thought was that the story was planted by the Edwards campaign. Brings the news reports back to him after they have been concentrating on the bickering between Hillary and Obama ... brings more pity upon his sickly wife because she now has to be seen enduring an ugly claim ... and makes it look as though he likes women, after his leanings have been questioned by some. Just a thought.
Like I said,let’s see if he brings the accusation to court !!!

Guaranteed this didn't come from the right. Hillary had the most to gain from it. 10 bucks says that even if it IS traced back to her campaign, she'll blame the republicans for it. And we've got lots of people on the right who would let her get away with it because they don't want to "attack a woman".
If the story was false Edwards would have filed suit at the speed of light.

The Enquirer is an arm of the Clinton Chinese Mafia War Room. I doubt the story is true since the accuser is a woman.
