Good evening, DocRock...your nephew’s first name? Is he still in the sandbox? I’d love to add him to the Parade of Heroes.

"Good evening, DocRock...your nephew’s first name? Is he still in the sandbox? I’d love to add him to the Parade of Heroes."

He is scheduled to leave Iraq in about a week and he had asked me not to publish too much info regarding him in the past. Now that he is "short" and they are no longer on patrol, I can post a little more. His name is Fred and he is a he is a sniper in the 505 PIR 82nd AB. I have a copy of a letter from Col. Bryan Owens stating that he "acquired the furthest qualifying shot of anyone ever in Sniper School." This kid can shoot!

I also have a copy of a hand written letter from Cpt. Kuhlmar which was sent to his wife dated 16 Aug of this year which says: "I just wanted you to know how proud I am of your husband. Fred was injured in a sustained firefight in late June where his brave actions under fire saved the lives of his comrades. Without regard for his own personal safety, he helped return fire with his sniper rifle against a determined enemy who had another company pinned down in a complex attack. His actions that day are in keeping with the finest traditions of the American Paratrooper - a reputation forged in WWII and continued to this day by men like your husband. He is a dedicated professional and I'm extremely appreciative of what he brings to our team. Thanks for your continued support of him and Bravo. Fred's wounds have healed completely and he'll be 'good as new' when we return in a few months. God Bless, Cpt Kwenton Kuhlmar, "B6"

As you can tell, I'm a proud uncle, and this fine American Warrior is a true Hero. I learned that his sniper fire protected over 100 men for three hours straight, even though he got hit in the leg. He told me that it was a piece of an AK round and he is fine. I've heard that his Cpt put him in for a Silver Star, but I've not heard if it has gone through. You'll be the first to know if it does.

Please pray for our men and women in harms way. My nephew has survived two IED's and three bullets and I firmly believe that it is because of prayer. Keep praying for our troops.

FReegards,
DocRock
