Ann Coulter on CNBC Show: Jews Need 'Perfecting'

NEW YORK Appearing on Donny Deutsch's CNBC show, "The Big Idea," on Monday night, columnist/author Ann Coulter suggested that the U.S. would be a better place if there weren't any Jewish people and that they needed to "perfect" themselves into -- Christians.

It led Deutsch to suggest that surely she couldn't mean that, and when she insisted she did, he said this sounded "anti-Semitic."

Asked by Deutsch whether she wanted to be like "the head of Iran" and "wipe Israel off the Earth," Coulter stated: "No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. ... That's what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament."

Deutsch told E&P's sibling magazine, Adweek, today, "I was offended. And then, and this was interesting, she started to back off and seemed a little upset."

Asked to gauge her reaction, Deutsch said, "I think she got frightened that maybe she had crossed a line, that this was maybe a faux pas of great proportions. I mean, did it show ignorance? Anti-Semitism? It wasn't just one of those silly things."

A transcript, provided by Media Matters, follows. *

DEUTSCH: Christian -- so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?

COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?

DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Jew, I should be a Christian, and this would be a better place?

COULTER: Well, you could be a practicing Jew, but you're not.

DEUTSCH: I actually am. That's not true. I really am. But -- so we would be better if we were - if people -- if there were no Jews, no Buddhists --

COULTER: Whenever I'm harangued by --

Equating Christian and muslin as the same...figures.

The big differences is I will not kill you if you do not choose to be a Christian.

allah says sacrifice your child for me, my God says I sacrificed My Child for you....not the same.

Thank you for posting the entire transcript.

It appears to me that Mr. Deutsch was attempting to twist Miss Coulter's word into something that they were not. He strikes me as an exceptionally dishonest interviewer.

why, thank you! I have your permission? Aren't you sweet...

And just for the record, my Christian friends have never once and that includes those who are LDS have EVER tried to "PERFECT" me. They have the utmost respect for my religion as I have for theirs. That's why we are friends.

But based on your comment, I don't expect you to understand that.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country — it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.

COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like Joe Lieberman, the Republican Party would look like Duncan Hunter

Correct me if I'm wrong. Joe Lieberman is Jewish. Right? So how does Ann hate Jews?

Look at my post again:

“All other people have the Covenent of Noah, which basically says “worship God in whatever manner God told your people to worship Him” (dramatic oversimplification).”

Now let’s look at yours:

“If this is true, then why did their God tell Jonah to go to a gentile country to call them to repentance AND worship THEIR God?” (emphasis added)

Now where did you go wrong?

“THEIR GOD” -— the worship of the one God — of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob being still necessary, and hence Jonah’s little trip. (Also, there were other violations of the Noahdic Law going on -— they were savages -— but we’re keeping things simple here.)

Jewish theologians are (generally) of the opinion that the worship of God in the form of Christianity or Islam is perfectly acceptible manner of worship for non-Jewish people.

>Jesus said there is none good, no not one. A “good” Muslim will burn in hell, a “good” Jew will burn in hell, because there is nobody “good” enough. God decides, not us. He said Jesus is the ONLY WAY.

In which case I am quite relieved that I will not be sharing heaven with you. I’d be a lot more comfortable burning in hell with the rest of the Jews.

To each their own. Kindly try & convert someone else. Some of us aren’t interested.

Muslims preach Islamic Supremacist ideology.

They pray prayers of conversion in the halls of US and world government.

Non-muslims have fewer rights and protections under Islamic law.

There is a concept of “muslim lands” (even non-muslim natives are not welcome there).

The media never points out when the head of CAIR makes such statements.

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant," and, "The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

I can say “you should eat better, like me” but that doesn’t mean that I want to see you die, suffer, nor does it make me feel smug “I’m glad I’m eating well, not like...”.

Preparing the holy land for the return of Christ is a red herring. The anti-Christ has to come first, who wants to live through THAT Hell on Earth? And who would be so bold as to suggest that like “man made global warming” we could affect the global-political-metaphysical realm enough to deliberately bring about the Second Coming?

It is a game of prophecy and people have been wrong with their speculation for hundreds of years.

Ann was making a religious statement. Perfection, when Christians speak about Judaism, has to do with the relationship between the two religions, something that shouldn't be too hard to grasp when one considers that Christianity is a Jewish heresy, or, to be less tendentious, builds itself on the foundation of Judaism. We think that Jesus "perfects" (in the sense of "completes") the revelation to the Jews. This older use of the word has less of the sense of thorough excellence and more of the sense of consummation or completion. A cake is "perfected" (or not) in the baking.

If that's insulting, then monotheism is insulting. Certainly I've had Buddhist friends cheerfully mock Christianity as well as discuss their doctrinal objections to it.

The whole transcript puts it in perspective. Deutsch was pushing for something to be offended at and had to twist the context in an absurd way to achieve his goal.

The knee jerk Ann critics on this thread screwed up big time, and are as precisely as obnoxious as they falsely accuse Ann of being.

They owe her a big apology, but I'm not holding my breath.

I get so sick of this Ann bashing Scheiss. Doesn't anyone have anything better to do?

That anti-Semitic site, Little Green Footballs /sarc put another attempted lychmob of Ann into perspective:

Media Matters Scandal of the week

Well, judging from my email, a lot of people want to discuss the latest manufactured Media Matters controversy, Ann Coulter’s statement that “Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians.”

I recommend reading the transcript at the above link to get a sense of the dynamic between Coulter and CNBC host Donny Deutsch that led up to these remarks. And then check out Omri Ceren’s take on it at Mere Rhetoric: Manufactured Scandal Of The Week: Media Matters Accuses Coulter Of Wanting To Wipe Out American Jews, Action Alerts To Pull Her Off The Air Immediately Follow.

From my reading, Coulter was simply stating standard Christian doctrine—with a little extra edginess to get Deustch wound up. Looks like it worked, and now she’ll sell some more books as a result.

For the entire story, read the rest of this hyperlink!

So is Ann Coulter some sort of closet Nazi?

Now I have this mental image of an "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" outfit in the back of her closet, for "special occasions"....

“Perfecting” is a term of art in Christian theology; it does not have the common meaning.

It’s too complex a concept for a F.R. post.

I didn’t say that Ann hates Jews! In fact I implied just the opposite. Your response to my post 67 makes no sense.

I'd always given Ms. Coulter a wide berth on her views despite some of the bizarre things she'd espouse. Not anymore.

She has not changed her mind about any of this. A few years back she explained, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

Is every articulation of a viewpoint different from yours an attempt to convert you? If you, as you have just done, make a statment with which I disagree, is that an attempt to convert me?

I would say that nobody (on this thread) tried to convert you and that you did not try to convert me.

And one more thing, I attended a Cindy Sheehan phony peace march wearing this shirt:

I took movies of the event and you can watch the Commies swearing and threatening to beat me up HERE.

To make it even worse, I'm not Christian -- I'm Jewish! Those freepers who know me personally will attest to this!
