Al Gore Called Away Unexpectedly for 'Exciting and Urgent Mission'

Thursday , October 11, 2007

A simple phone call by Al Gore to Sen. Barbara Boxer's office has touched off widespread speculation that the former vice president is getting ready to make an even bigger splash — perhaps as a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The politician-turned-environmental-crusader contacted the California Democrat to beg out of a Thursday fundraising event for her, where he was to headline alongside musicians Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne, the political blog SFGate.com reported.

In a note sent to event supporters and posted on the blog, Boxer wrote: "I just got a call from Vice President Al Gore. He told me that he needs to travel abroad tomorrow for an exciting and urgent mission that could result in a major breakthrough in the fight against global warming."

The San Francisco fundraiser has been postponed until Nov. 9, but speculation is rife that Gore's next public appearance could be in Oslo, Norway, where the Nobel Peace Prize is to be awarded on Friday.

Alfred Nobel invented dynamite (among other things, I am sure). I even fail to see why they named the honor after him.

The Nobel Prizes were set up by his estate, using his money. That’s why they use his name.

If you want to set up the Preachin’ Prizes with your massive estate after your death, feel free.

Maybe they'll win it jointly - as they have both created peace by distracting the heck out of people by pointing fingers at each other for decades.

Being a Republican is synonymous with “grief”, we had better start electing people who can take it, and give it, with no mercy.

Really, knowing that Jimmy Carter got one is all you ever need to know about the Nobel Prize.

I think that he was doing pretty good as a former President with his Habitat for Humanity work. But coincidently the minute he got that stupid award....he cracked!!! I mean don’t get me wrong, he is the worst President in the history of America, but until he won in 2001, he was pretty quiet and just kept to his organization. I think he got a huge ego after winning.

Al Gore may be receiving the foremost liberal prize for failure; he is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Interestingly, his failures pail in comparison to the 2002 Peace Prize recipient Jimmy Carter, but not for lack of “effort.” Jimmy Carter is widely held to be the worst president of the 20th Century. Both are now equally irrelevant, though.

Under the best case scenario Gore wins and confirms how utterly preposterous each prize it is. But, more likely for the Clintoons to once again slight Gore in favor of a later Peace Prize to Hillary Clintoon. Not deminished by the useful idiot Al Gore.

BTW, the Jimmy Carter Prize reads: “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development”

You can both “effort” and “advance” forever without any success, a niche that only laudable for a Democrap and Liberal. And, the stock and trade of socialists.

Shermy’s crystal ball says...

Irked by his failure to get the Nobel Prize, Gore seizes the spotlight by travelling to China, a la Jimmy Carter to North Korea, to “agree” to or foment a “deal” with China, and maybe India too, to get them to agree to carbon caps.

The deal will be as shoddy as Jimmy’s with NK.

Shermy's crystal ball has been spookily prescient.

However, in this case, you may want to edit the prediction to "Emboldened by his being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Gore seizes the spotlight by travelling to China, a la Jimmy Carter to North Korea, to 'agree' to or foment a 'deal' with China, and maybe India too, to get them to agree to carbon caps."

Whatever it is, win or lose, it won't be good for the U.S. of A...

Just read on another thread that Gore is not going overseas and will be at the event with Boxer in SF. Wonder why Boxer made that announcement then? Something still does not sound right about these stories. Who knows!

Mother Teresa was quoted as saying if she could give her Nobel Peace prize to anyone, it would be to the Devil himself.
