Revisionist history needs to be fought.

We have a moslem nation trying to use its accident of geography as a blugeon to conceal.

This issue has been around far longer than this vote. Republicans were too stupid to use it to their own advantage.

I’m not very happy either with the Turks for not allowing us access at the beginning of this conflict. It seems they are now from what I’ve read, but I may have been misled by some comments of other forum participants.

Your comments about them joining NATO and the EU mirror my own views on the subject. I have some serious misgivings concerning the matter if they should be let in either org. I have not developed a solid position on it yet. In some ways I think it might be a positive thing. In other ways, I don’t care for it.

Take care Joe.

The timing of this is a little suspect. Is it a last gasp effort by the dems to subvert the war....

Thanks for your words of agreement, and extended comments. We’re of the same mind on this.

Is it a national holiday?

It's not a federal holiday but it is celebrated across the nation.

I hadn't heard anything about the Armenians trying to make their commemoration a Federal holiday.

Henry Morgenthau, the U.S. Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire at the time of the atrocities—“I am confident that the whole history of the human race contains no such horrible episode as this. The great massacres and persecutions of the past seem almost insignificant when compared with the sufferings of the Armenian race in 1915.”

NO doubt this measure has been adopted many years too late but it will be adopted fully.

Well, they started in my town first. It’s closed for business on the designated date, and as of this date we’re still refusing to replace the U.S. flag on that day with the Armenian flag.

This is a classic case of follow the money.

How much should we bet a bunch of Democrats have donors who pushed this on them and the Democrats simply figured nobody was watching anyway, and hey, they can get more donations out of it. Miss Nancy went along too.

I’m drawing a blank on the congressman’s name (my district, he’s a dim and not worthy of remembering) who cosponsored this bill, but he has a very large presence of Armenians in his district. IMO both he and they could give a fig what the ramifications for this nation would be, as long as their individual interests are catered to. They have been a forceful bunch when it comes to this issue. It’s always up front and center in our community.
