Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll 10/10 Giuliani 27% Thompson 17% Romney 16% McCain 11%

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday Rudy Giuliani with a growing advantage in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Giuliani is supported by 27% of Likely Primary Voters, his highest daily total in over a month. Fred Thompson’s support has dipped to 17%, his lowest total since early June. This is not a result of last night’s debate since results are reported on a four-day rolling average basis. However, each of the four individual night’s poll results were a bit weaker for Thompson than the night before.

The last time Giuliani had a double-digit edge over Thompson was in mid-May. That was before the debate over immigration sank McCain’s campaign and the Arizona Senator was in second place.

Mitt Romney has moved to within a point of Thompson at 16% while John McCain got back into double digits at 11%. Mike Huckabee earns the vote from 6% (see recent daily numbers).

Not sure what you base your analysis on.

Giuliani has been receiving an extreme amount of coverage and scrutiny in the press over his record, persona and relationship with the conservative GOP base.

But he is still is leading in the polls very steadily since May, trending upwards to the point he will probably crack the 30% mark again. He defies all of the pundits who said he would crash and burn. We have been hearing this since January, but guess what, it’s not happening, he’s rising in the polls even as attention is put on the supposed conservative exodus that is claimed would happen. He has the highest favorability ratings of any candidate in either party. He has the best name recognition of any of the candidates other than her highness. You mentioned his “America’s Mayor” moniker, a recognition and respect most candidates would kill to have.

Giuliani is an incredibly intelligent and powerful public speaker. He made a habit of not using prepared speeches while mayor, so he’s quick on the fly, and utterly absorptive of any issue material. He knows the stuff. His history as a crackerjack prosecutor gives him the kind of debating ability most candidates lack. That ability will be needed to combat Hillary. She will make very few campaign mistakes, it will be an ice cold campaign. So far Giuliani has been consistently at the top of each debate so far if not outright winning each one.

Thompson has not demonstrated he has the energy, charisma or competency at this point that is required to be president. The best Fred Thompson speech ever was right after he was sworn in to the Senate. I remember watching it thinking this guy is a great speaker, he’s likable, engaging, he should run for president. We did not see that last night.

I think Romney could still catch Rudy, especially since Romney is looking good to easily take Iowa. Romney has high energy, knows his stuff, and is engaging. Rudy is catching up in NH, and if Rudy wins NH, its over for Romney. BTW Rudy is up in the latest Michigan poll, another bad sign for Romney. Fred’s numbers are artificially high, due to his LA Law show only.

Huckabee should be polling higher than Fred, as should Duncan Hunter, both far more competent and energetic than Thompson. I think Huckabee is angling for the VP slot with Rudy or Romney. huckabee told James Dobson to go to hell with his third party idea, he said ““No, I think a third party only helps elect Hillary [Clinton],”“I don’t see that being a good strategy for those who really care about pushing a pro-family, pro-life agenda.”

Bottom line, like Huckabee, I want to win 2008. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE TO HIIALRY. What many are in fact promoting is to chase an unqualified narcotic candidate in the name of political ideology, only to later get stomped in a general election by Hillary, which results in decades of real tangible and painful setbacks to conservative causes. Sorry, that’s a suicide pact. I want the best candidate. Unfortunately Giuliani is not a conservative, he’s a center right moderate, but country comes for me before ideology and party and the best way for me to see moving America towards the values I follow, we need to win 2008, not lose and hopefully regroup.

And one wonders what sort of ‘Conservative’ can come from a nearly blue-state Republican!? He’ll dominate the blue areas (to some degree), but in the south and southwest, I don’t see him being all too prevalent.

Not really the best strategy on winning, since Hillary will focus on his liberalism and destroy his chance in southern states. People take the south for granted...it isn’t exactly a given. Muchless, the turnout can destroy our representation...but you can assume the best if you want.

Oh great, lets dump on a tried and true conservative fighter for the likes of a faux Republican that only became one to have a chance to be elected.

I don’t vote for Democrats. Rudy’s own mother said he was really a Democrat.

I cannot believe I am on a conservative website. It just amazes me.

“Thank you. I will just add Ann Coulter to the other list of things that no longer matter to conservatives, “

I don’t speak for conservatives in general. I speak for myself. There are fools within every ideology.

You can call Ann a lot of things, but a fool would be the last thing on my list.

“Oh great, lets dump on a tried and true conservative fighter for the likes of a faux Republican that only became one to have a chance to be elected.”

Fox Republican? Rudy?..I’m no Rudy supporter if you haven’t noticed.

Tried and true...Ann? Well, I guess...not my thing.

“I don’t vote for Democrats. Rudy’s own mother said he was really a Democrat.”

Why all this talk about Rudy...was I promoting Rudy somewhere? No, I wasn’t. Cereal, where are getting this from?

“I cannot believe I am on a conservative website. It just amazes me.”

Okay, what exactly is wrong....that I don’t like Ann’s way of doing things or that I think Romney and Rudy AREN’T Republican material?

Sorry but this pollster is usually right on. All the hit pieces being done on Fred Thompson are taking their toll. He is falling. Hunter is going nowhere.

Only the Rudy is holding his own.

The left are winning

I didn’t call her a fool...I called those whom flock to her and waste their time a FOOL.

She’s just making money off of them, like a pyramid scheme. Anyone can read the news and follow what’s going on, without some controversial figure cheerleading their thoughts.

Must be true. Hillary wins and Rudy will be responsible for the win.

Maybe she will ask him to be her Attorney General in the spirit of bipartisan leadership?

The GOP will be the permanent minority.

Polls tend to be accurate to the time, but I wonder exactly where they’re polling. And obviously one must wonder how people like Dean poll great nationally, but end-up losing to Kerry.

I’d say this is just set of events...such as newt saying he’s not running, Romney push through tons of ads, the anti-fred surge in the media.

I would say it’s nothing to fret about, given the historical nature of things.

Curious...you know a lot about Duncan. Has he ever considered running for Governor somewhere? Somewhere in his past?

If Giuliani is beating or tying Thompson in the polls in SC, which last I checked is part of the south, what does that tell you?

Ouch. I guess I’ll consider myself insulted. But, in reality, it is the rest of you who are fools if you don’t see the wisdom in Ann’s clear thinking. We choose the most electable conservative with a chance of beating Rudy and Hillary. She is right when she says -—> it is Mitt.

Tying Thompson in SC? Really?

Insider Advantage 10/02 - 10/02 16 21 16 16 11 Thompson +5
Rasmussen 09/26 - 09/27 20 24 15 11 3 Thompson +4
LA Times/Bloomberg 09/06 - 09/10 23 26 9 15 6 Thompson +3

The fallacies here are the assumption that Romney is a conservative and that he can actually beat either Giuliani or Clinton.

Unfortunately, I do not think Fred Helped himself at the debate.

I agree it was not a particularly good first impression for those who had not previously seen him in his own character.

Ann could think clearly...so can anyone. I don’t like her style and I think it’s more show-boating than it is substance. I don’t waste my time with media cheerleaders, whom just want my dollar.

I don’t see any reputable reason that Mitt can win against Hillary...but you can definitely show me the way. I’m open.

So Ann isn't a fool, but those that appreciate her are FOOLS (in caps!). So she is like some sort of Rasputin, using her artful (non-foolish) crafts to inveigle her witless fans. Is that it?

Last week, Ann was the most popular conservative pundit at FR, whose weekly column would quickly gather scores of admiring posts. Now, since she came out against Thompson, she is just an emaciated little rhymes-with-witch, whose fans are FOOLS!

Another person in the ever-lengthening list of things no longer important to conservatives.
