18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months. That would seriously drive me to drink.
Sutherland is already on probation for a 2004 drunken driving arrest.

Kiefer Sutherland pleaded no contest Tuesday to a charge of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and will serve 30 days in county jail under terms of a plea agreement.Maybe he'll get lucky and only have to do 24.

30 days will be at most a week.
They also revoked his probation and he will be sent to jail for that for maybe a lot longer than 30 days.
I think there is more jail time after he goes back to court for breaking parole.

As part of the arrangement, Sutherland must also enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class...How in the world does an alcohol-education class last EIGHTEEN MONTHS?!?

I love Kiefer in “24”; but is jail now a revolving door for celebs?

I read an interview a year ago in which his life is portrayed as divided between the "24" set, drinking in bars in rough parts of L.A., and sitting alone in his enormous warehouse apartment. His only friends are the "24" case and crew. His father abandoned him and his mother for Jane Fonda when he was a boy, and Kiefer has never even brought it up to him once.
Poor Kiefer. He is a lonely, lonely man.

“alcohol-education class”
I wonder if the class room learning techniques involve water-boarding?
