Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread
CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.
Candidates participating:
Duncan Hunter is (clearly) the most qualified candidate in that debate.
In fact, in the race!
I was waiting to see whether Fred was going to hit a homerun, and have the unstoppable Mo.
I’m sorry but don’t think he did. We really need to start promoting Hunter — he’s clearly the best candidate.
I agree, our guys seem less canned then the Dhimmis do.
Even that nutty polysci professor Paul...
“As much as I hate to say this, Giulianis attacks against Hillary are the red meat that the base wants to hear.”
I agree. His snarky comment about putting her picture on every $1,000 bill she wants to hand out was the highlight of the debate, so far (not that THAT’S saying much...!).
Yeah we could call him Rush!!
Back from break.
Thompson asked about his plans for Social Security.
When do they go up against Hillary in a debate? Anybody know?
Fred Thompson is freaking terrible. God he is awful. Sorry if I offend his supporters but man is he dull and lacking any substance.
There's nothing small nor petty about Hunter thus once can only conclude that something impairs your vision and judgement. Good luck with that.
Does Romney have a positive message on entitlements, too?
Romney is slick like a used car salesman or a televangelist.
Huckabee is smarmy like Bubba. Most be something in the water in Hope, AR.
I would love to see the EXACT same questions put to the Democrat candidates. It would never happen, as the questions for Democrat debates are written by the DNC ahead of time.
Some rag-head minister from middle east sand dune said this morning that $100 a barrel oil would be in line with 1967 price adjusting for inflation. So, the people from the sand dunes want $100 a barrel oil.
In politics, folks are sometimes addressed by their last elected or appointed position.
More personal attacks. Says much about you.
I need a play book lol.. Other than Rudy, Fred and McCain I have to think about who is who for a sec. Tancredo and Brownbeck I haven't a clue.
They need the candidates name up there each time he speaks..if they have it I'm missing it, except when it's Rudy, who I already know! lol
I joined this site because the name Free Republic sounded right. Now during this debate someone like Ron Paul is scorned upon. Instead politicians who are globalist, lobbiests, and members of the CFR are cheered. Open your mind.
“One thing is wrong with this entire debate though. Too many pie holes up there. I know it is early, but we have to pare down the field, and fast.”
I agree, but how do we get Rudy, Fred, Mitt and McCain out of there?
Not really. Not in the primary.
I'd rather have him give some direct answers--he's using Hillary to avoid the questions.
Somehow Fred work National Park maintenance into the Social Security answer...he got lost a bit on that one...
That a nice slogan but what are the principals Rep Tancredo thinks we should be sticking to? You will get a vastly different answer depending on who you ask that of. Rep Tancredo needs to specify what exactly his principals are.
