Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 – Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread
CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.

So far Fred sucks. Hunter’s a good talker, he’s just hopelessly paleo. Romney is too much of a dandy. Rudy comes across pretty good, but of course he eats foetuses for breakfast, so whatever. McCain seems to be getting the most applause, but we all know he’s out. Tancredo, Paul, Brownback, and Hunter are all a waste of time. Huckabee is pretty good.

Simple challenge to you Paulites. With NO slogans. NO demagoguery. NO sliming everyone else who doesn’t share your faith. Tell me HOW Paul would do anything. Here is his “Issues page”. NOT a word about what or how he would do anything. Just a bunch of slogans strung together basically screaming bile at everyone and everything.

See, you need us to support Dr Paul. We have no reason to support Dr Paul. So please explain to us WHAT and HOW a Paul Administration would do anything. Do that with OUT sliming any one. No name calling, no hysteric hyper emotive rhetoric. None of the usual Paulite personal attacks in place of reason argument. No cut and pasting of sound bite statements from Paul speeches. NO statements of what YOU think Paul means. REAL plans with documented links so we can read them for ourselves.

Is there a better link for this? Either my DSL is loopy today, or MSNBC is using a semi-functional 286 for their server, but I can’t seem to get beyond 10-20 seconds of this without it hanging up and the audio cutting out.
Hunter should campaign heavily here in Michigan and the rest of the rust belt.

Great answer from Thompson — doesn’t buy the concept that lost taxes = lost revenue. The people know where to find it — it’s in their pockets.
