Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread
CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.
Candidates participating:
Only a slight exaggeration. By definition, if they are watching CNBC they must have some money, nobody watches it for entertainment value. I never understood why people would voluntarily vote for candidates who want to take their money from them. I guess I never will.
Sorry about not getting back here once the fun began (had a live blog going), but it wasn't exactly sterling. Then again, I have CNBC available on the TV to my right.
Did Alan rethink his choice to get in the race?
I love the guy but didn’t think that would have been a wise move.
My Hunter for Pres I am worried is going to be a possible as Alan Keyes as Pres. when he ran.
King Vanity is all for Mitt.
My! The Paulenistas have been busy!! :-)
Guess I’ll have to vote for him now—he’s the obvious winner of EVERYTHING in the universe.

The RP spammers have been very busy. lol.
Man— the Paulbearers are running that poll.
Whatever the reason for Hunter’s inability to gain traction with the voters, it is a reality. He is polling around 1 or 2 percent. He is not raising much money. Unless he can turn this around, he is not a viable candidate. I am not taking great pleasure out of that fact, but I am trying to take an objective look at who will be the nominee. The MSM is definitely pushing Rudy and McCain, And judging from Bartlett’s remarks, the WH seems to be involved as well.
Yeah, they're experts at spaming. Their so good at it that they "spamed" five million dollars into the Paul campaign, more than any other "bottom tier" candidate.
Let me suggest that the wager be this:
Loser must post: (”Captain Kirk” or “Eric Blair” is a genius and I am stupid) prior to any post they make on any FR thread for a week.
Did you hear the silence when Fred said "That's your opinion."? Matthews looked a little stunned, even for him. He kind of choked on whether to respond to that or moveon.org. He moved on. LOLOL
I was being sarcastic, but you must agree that the vast majority are liberals. And they’re having a fun time and a good laugh voting for Ron Paul.

Yes, I know. Everybody says so! ;^)
>> Their so good at it that they “spamed” five million dollars into the Paul campaign, more than any other “bottom tier” candidate.
That’s like $2.5 Million Dollars per percentage point.
Is it not possible that Democrats and fellow wacko leftists have been donating to Paul on the off chance that they can get an anti-war Republican candidate ... and thus have an anti-war vs. anti-war election in 2008?
Is it also not possible that anti-war liberals are skewing these online polls in favor of anti-war Paul?
H
Savage just gave Fred a thumbs up on his show after his response on the war on terror. Interesting....
Fred’s presence itself does not margininalize the rest of the field. Take more time away from the other eight candidates, sure, all things being equal (as always I’d like to see an actual time breakdown per candidate).
Now the only way the rest of the field gets marginalized is that the mainstream media will give a plurality of attention to “Fred’s first debate.” The rest of the field has gotten marginalized anyway in all the prior debates, so not much changes there anyway. Just another excuse for the fluff the media likes to concentrate on.
But that’s more a statement on the media itself than on what Fred does or doesn’t do.
MSNBC yes. CNBC I don’t think so. Like I said why would Capitalists vote for Socialists. It does happen but...
The fact of the matter is that Ron Paul supporters are either more motivated or they are experts at voting and then deleting cookies and can manipulate their IP addresses like a cat burglar does a safe.
Thanks for the heads-up!
