UNDATED -- The Paul McCartney-Stevie Wonder hit "Ebony and Ivory" tops a new list of the worst duets.
BBC Radio Six conducted the poll, seeking listeners' views on the collaborations they like the most -- and least. The 1982 tune is one of two tracks the former Beatle has in the top 10 worst list. "The Girl Is Mine," his duet with Michael Jackson, has the No. 6 spot. Elton John and David Bowie also have two collaborations on the worst list.
Elton's "Live 8" performance of "Children of the Revolution" with British rocker Pete Doherty is coming in at No. 7, while his version of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" with George Michael takes the No. 9 spot.

That was not a post-mortem duet. It was recorded a few weeks before Bing’s death.

Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell?

Previous post is for you. Yeh - Shatner warbling “Mr. Tambourine Man” and Nimoy grimly knocking out “Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town” - they break prisoners with that kind of stuff on an infinite loop.

Just for the record, I really like that duet and this is coming from someone who sat in the front row of AC/DC concerts. :-)

I watched an ACC football game over the weekend and heard a commentator say "If you tried to put all this guy's highlights onto one DVD, it would be a twinpack." Oddly, I think I understood that. :-)

Also the Michael Jackson-Mick Jagger one, that was probably the worst of all.
State of Shock, you are referring to, absolutely. Sorry I missed your earlier post before mentioning it.

John Travolta & Olivia Newton John - "You're The One That I Want"I can't help myself. This song always makes me smile. It's a fun piece of nonsense and I love the visual from Grease with him and Olivia. Who knew way back then John's bad boy greaser gang persona would make way for L. Ron Hubbard creepiness. Elton John & Kiki Dee singing "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" hits me the same way.

McCartney is a class-conscious narcissist with cornball sensibilities.
He's also one hell of a great songwriter, and a lot of people forget how much he could rock in his Beatles years, especially on Little Richard covers.
Stevie's songs are frequently lyrical nightmares, but this usually doesn't matter because of his ability to pull off the most stilted phrasings imaginable using a combination of vocal control and a consistent tone in all registers. His use and sense of harmony and melody are quite sophisticated.
I really would have expected better from these two...but "Ebony And Ivory" is one of the biggest #1 smash records of all time, so what do I know?
