Liz Cheney! Excellent choice. And was Howard Baker the Senate Majority Leader who led a delegation of Republican congressmen to the WH to tell Nixon that he had to resign? If so, another good choice.

I’d say Fred Thompson just made it clear he’s very serious about the nomination.

I also like th timing, he’s going to get the 24 hour news cycle from now til Wednesday between this and the debate tomorrow night.

I cannot express how MUCH this upsets me.

~snip~
Sen. Spencer Abraham will serve as a co-chair of the Thompson campaign. Abraham most recently served the nation as Secretary of Energy during President George W. Bush’s first term in office. Prior to that, Sen. Abraham served as an effective and highly productive U.S. Senator from Michigan from 1995 to 2001. Before his election to the U.S. Senate, Abraham served as co-chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) from 1991 to 1993 and he served as chairman of the Michigan Republican Party from 1983 to 1990. A native of East Lansing, Michigan, Abraham holds a law degree from Harvard University, where he co-founded the Federalist S ociety.

This is bad news for Guiliani.

Baker is a power mind. (even if he has a blind spot on the Wahabis)

This is also on the day the “log” cabins launch a commercial praising Romney for his anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual (anti-christian) stances. playing on FNC allll day todday.

With the exception of Mrs. Cheney this group is less than impressive.

Ah yes, now the Cheneys are on board. Are there any Bush people who are not in the Thompson camp? Would all the Bush insiders be getting behind Thompson if they weren’t certain that Thompson would continue with the disastrous Bush legacy?

Glad to see Liz Cheney involved! This looks like a group of folks who are plugged in to great fundraising and national campaign resources.

Every time I hear Howard Baker’s name it reminds me of a job I worked for a couple of weeks repairing a dam on an exclusive mountain estate in Cashier’s NC in the mid 80’s. This old retired couple wanted it repaired so they could hear the water splashing over it from their bedroom. Every day the woman would ask us when we were going to be finished because she was having a big party on an upcoming weekend and then would go though, over and over again, the entire guest list of the who’s who that were coming, always ending with, “and Howard Baker is coming do you know who he is”?

If this was a game of bridge, I believe that Fred Thompson would have a great hand to play. Lots of Aces and Queens.

Now if they could just give him some caffeine and lift his energy level up a bit.....

Is this the best that he can come up with? Man, I thought he would be the guy. Now I’m back with nobody in that top tier that I want. Prayers are truly needed for this once great nation.

So, Liz Chenney is Dick and Lynne’s daughter. She’s married to a Philip Perry, once an Acting Associate Attorney General.
