Guy betrays America with every contribution he makes. I see no reason to trust him, but why hasn’t “W” picked him up to spend the duration in a federal prison somewhere?
I don’t think you need to worry . 1/3 of his wives are staying in telephone contact with him at all times .
But the inability to get radios to do what radios cannot do is the main failure?
I’m sure I don’t trust him ......
responsible bidder ~ its not enough to simply be the low bidder.
You would be surprised to know how many cities buy just based on low bid. Yes, the more responsible, town, city, municipality buy based on responsible bid, hence the reason I typed ( if the bidder follows the specs of the bid). Spec, specifications being the key word.
The rub with the NYFD was that after the City bought the non recommended and higher proposal than the NYFD wanted. Sort of got a VCR player when they wanted a DVD. It happens all the time.

Broadening the Base
By Harold Schaitberger
snip
To be successful, we in the labor movement must broaden our appeal beyond our traditional base of union members. But to expand our base, we must change the theme and delivery of our message.
The Federation’s usual vehicle for its political message is a mailer or leaflet with a picture of a worker, a quote, and some text about how a particular candidate has a record that puts them on the side of working families — or on the side of big corporations.
It’s a message of code words, targeted at the progressives in labor’s ranks, to the exclusion of the moderate or even conservative-leaning members of unions. This message will not help expand our base. Our message must be changed to recognize that voters’ personal lives usually mean more to them than their jobs.
Our message must embrace the incredible amount of time our members spend being fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, people of faith, protectors of their families, and patriots of their country. The message must rise above simple economic arguments and reach down to the guts of voters with a message that connects on an emotional level.
Security fears in the post-9/11 environment will be prominent in the mindset of Americans for years to come. Our message must make the case that we stand for a strong national defense, securing our homeland, and protecting our citizens and families.
We must frame issues to tie health care and retirement security to protecting the family and strengthening our nation’s moral fiber. We must clearly say that a major part of faith and religious teaching is to work to improve the lives of the neediest in our country.
The results of the 2002 and 2004 elections speak for themselves. In the minds of voters, economic and labor issues could not overcome security, a strong national defense, and the belief in values-based decision-making by our leaders. Our movement needs to get back in touch before the next election is upon us.
Harold Schaitberger is general president of International Association of Fire Fighters.
There’s a breakdown. We’ve got firefighters still trapped in New Orleans.
Harold Schaitberger quote
In the Seattle Times article, Schaitberger admits that the union never really considered endorsing President Bush’s re-election, even though more of the members identified themselves as Republicans than Democrats or Independents. Schaitberger also claimed that the IAFF is really bi-partisan in our politics, although 83 percent of the $1.8 MILLION dollars it spent in 2002 went to Democrats.
Schaitberger goes on national television to decry the President’s trading on the heroism of the firefighters, while Kerry and his campaign (of which he is co-chairman), cynically trades upon the name and heroism of Father Judge to buy the support of firefighters.
Schaitberger makes sure that wherever Kerry goes he is surrounded by the infamous yellow and black T-shirts emblazoned Firefighters for Kerry. Paul Begala, one of Bill Clinton’s advisor’s, said of the firefighters standing behind Kerry .. It looks like a Chippendales’ calendar.” Hmmmmm . that statement may say more about Paul Begala than it does about Kerry.
Two days after the September 11th tragedy, Sen. Ted Kennedy, along with the support of John Kerry, tried to sneak through the Senate on unanimous consent a bill called the Public Safety Employer-Employee Co-operation Act. This IAFF-pushed legislation was one of the largest power grabs by the unions ever attempted. It would have forced police and firefighters to accept union representation whether they wanted it or not. Who is trading on the heroism of the fallen firefighters of 9-11 ?? The answer is obvious.
After being the first union to endorse Kerry, Schaitberger was named Co-Chairman of the Kerry Campaign.
After Kerry had won primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire, Schaitberger was named to head up the AFL-CIO’s new strategy committee. I wonder if that pays extra on top of Schaitberger’s $211,000.00* salary as head of the IAFF.
John Sweeny, president of the AFL-CIO, after naming Schaitberger to the new post said Schaitberger will be the only guy in the White House with keys to the executive bathroom.” (where he will probably spend a lot of his time after his daily round of butt smooching)
This is just one more reason for not wanting to see a President Kerry:” Harold Schaitberger will be certainly given a position in a Kerry administration that will allow him to sell out the whole country not just the firefighters.

Giuliani ping!
That is the first thing I thought when I read that.
Did the mayor not see that the FDNY received the funding they needed for those items?
Who was ultimately responsible for the actual purchase and testing of the radios? Were those radios NEVER used before 9-11? I guess all those radios were brand new and had never been used before. Something doesn’t sound correct here.
Not defending Rudy though. I don’t like him either.
Vote for Hilliary.
I am sorry to say but there is plenty of shame to go around. If the the NYFD wants to play politics in favor of Democrats they better take a hard look at themselves.
“NON PARTISAN” MY REAR END!
IAFF President Harold Schaitberger noted from the get-go that “this is the day we begin the process” of deciding who to back. It won’t be an easy choice, said Ron Walker, a member of Contra Costa County, CA Local 1230. “The union will have to back a candidate who can win the support of its members, 57 percent of whom are Republican.” Yet the Republican candidates proved the most disappointing, said Walker, a Democrat who left the GOP after he became active in the union. “There were two things that this made clear,” he said. “Number one is that the Republicans just don’t get it. They are not concerned with working people.” The second thing, Walker said, is that Republicans already are working from the same script. Each made at least one reference to Ronald Reagan, each talked about the need to build a wall to stop illegal immigration and each backed the current policy in Iraq, he observed. As for the Democrats, “I have a lot of hope,” he said. “I don’t think we’d lose with any of them. They all have great goals. They believe in what I believe in.”

Guess who is linked to the liberal attack ad against Rudy Giuliani by the International Association of Fire Fighters?
That’s right...
Hillary Clinton and “good friend” IAFF President Harold Schaitberger.
They are so close, in fact that the IAFF President, Harold Schaitberger, introduced his “good friend” at the Democratic Leadership Council event in July 2002 and has spent time with her at her Washington home!
Before the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) was able to release a video in the afternoon full of angry testimony belittling Giulianis support of New York City firefighters, the campaign fired off releases and held a press conference.
Its unfortunate but not surprising that the IAFF union bosses have once again taken the low road in a move clearly out of step with their membership, retired New York City firefighter Lee Ielpi said in a statement from the campaign.
Clinton is particularly close to Firefighters Pres. Harold Schaitberger, who lauds her efforts on first responders, and to AFSCME’s Gerald McEntee, whose union grew when husband was Pres.
The same group that supported kerry, whats new
In spite of that list, that is not the reason I won’t vote for him. It’s about his stance on the ISSUES.
cmon thats not fair. give us at least ONE wrong choice
Wasn’t the repeater system in the WTC knocked out by the attack?
Thank you Firefighters. Rudy is a front. He won’t do what the people want him to do because he will be to busy doing what the people who are really behind him want him to do.
