I have been following the Republican candidates for President. I am not impressed, overall. May people ahve their favorites, of course, but there is no passion for any of them. There is always "He is great!....but". Usually in the social area. Today my favorite, Fred Thompson ducked the Washington Press corps. I thought "Big deal. He wasn't going to get a fair shake from these folks." Then I got to thinking (always dangerous) WWRD(What Would Ronnie Do?). He would take the bull by the horns and gave a question and answer session that would have changed minds an made front pages. He was the "Great Communicator" Our curren president would not be in so much trouble if he would communicat more often. You dont have to be great.
But Ronnie was.
He was the best with quick quips "There He Goes Again!" was a favorite of mine. He was honest and sincere. He spoke from the heart and you knew it. He went toe to toe wiht the 'evil empire' and they blink, then imploded!
I like Fred, will send him money. But he isn't Ronald Reagan. No matter how much I wish he was. No one is. I sure do miss him. And John Wayne... but he deserves his own tread!
At the time of Pearl Harbor, Wayne was 34 years old. His marriage was on the rocks but he still had four kids to support. His career was taking off, in large part on the strength of his work in the classic western Stagecoach (1939). But he wasn’t rich. Should he chuck it all and enlist? Many of Hollywood’s big names, such as Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, and Clark Gable, did just that. (Fonda, was 37 at the time and had a wife and three kids.) But these were established stars. Wayne knew that if he took a few years off for military service, there was a good chance that by the time he got back he’d be over the hill
Are you seriously comparing the achievements in the fight for the right put forth by Ronald Reagan and those of John Wayne?
What's wrong with you?
Fred and Duncan would make a great team!
I see you are here; I don’t have to ping you. :^)
See my post above. I so wish Duncan could be our number 1, top tier candidate. Sometimes the very thing we seek so desperately... is right there in front of our faces.
I'm with you....I think Duncan is the real deal!
I truly feel he is the most qualified to lead our country during these times. I was lucky enough to meet him at a SD Republican monthly meeting and this is a man that doesn't waver from his beliefs!
What a fabulous bit of reading. Thank you.
John Wayne achieved greatness as an actor. Ronald Reagan was an actor who achieved greatness as a President.
They were both great men; they were friends; and they fought the same enemies in the ways that only they as individuals could.
I don’t think either of them would accept criticism of the other.
Hunter is good, decent, and can speak. What a shame..right in front of our noses...such a great guy!
Howdy miss
Thanks for the link.
I truly enjoyed it! :-)
