Jack Cafferty opened his CNN "Situation Room" shtick today at 4:07 p.m. EDT by asking which was worse: "making sexual advances toward a police officer or lying to the whole world by saying you're going to resign your Senate seat and then announcing you're not going to resign?"
Answer: claiming you don't want Craig to resign simply for the sheer entertainment value of televised hearings about the whole sorry situation.
And that's exactly what Cafferty went on to do.
JACK CAFFERTY: Idaho Senator Larry Craig is a disgrace on many levels. Five weeks ago, Larry "Wide-Stance" Craig announced his intention to resign at the end of September after it got out he pleaded guilty in connection with being busted for playing footsie with a cop in that toilet. Pathetic soul that he is, Craig then tried to get his guilty plea to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge overturned. The court laughed in his face, as it should have.
Now Craig says he's staying. Good. Republicans want him to go because he's an embarrassment to their family-values party with an election coming up next year. Democrats want him to stay -- for the same reason: Craig's an embarrassment to the family-values Republican party with an election coming up next year.
I want him to stay too, but not for the same reason. The Senate Ethics Committee is investigating Craig. And if he insists on remaining in the Senate, well, there might be hearings. And those hearings likely might be televised. And I can't wait for that. "Senator, could you show the committee that wide stance you said you assumed in that toilet?" "Senator, you said you reached under the stall to pick up a piece of paper. The cop who arrested you didn't say anything about you having a piece of paper in your hand. And Senator, who picks up a piece of paper off the floor in a men's room in an airport? Senator?"
Like I said, I can't wait.
Some might be skeptical of Cafferty's claim that in wanting Craig to remain in the Senate, he's not motivated by a desire to hurt the GOP's electoral prospects. But for present purposes, let's take Cafferty at his word.
If, according to Cafferty, Larry Craig is a "disgrace" and a "pathetic soul" for what he did, then what is Jack Cafferty for salivating at the prospect of learning all the details of what happened in that stall?
Jack Cafferty a Larry Craig voyeur. Ping to Today show list.
Sounds like Cafferty has a weird fetish of his own.
Saw part of Cafferty yesterday.
He was reading e-mails from lots of loons.
Hard to believe that people really think like that.
Bingo.
While they're so righteously at it, investigate the out-and-out perversion that is done in public... via the Folsom Street Fair in SF. Public gay sex, public masterbation, public debauchery... all sponsored by Miller Brewing Company. And done in front of little children. In case you missed it... you can catch it at ZombieTime.
Warning... graphic... but tells the debauchery that has been turned into a yearly city sanctioned FEST.
“The Senate Ethics Committee is investigating Craig.”
Is this common for misdemeanors? No other Senators with misdemeanors on their record?
That is weird just plain weird.
It is a city fest and thus publicly funded/sanctioned (try to get funding/street closure for a Christmas celebration) as was the antiChristian poster.
I want to see televised Senate Ethics Hearings into the actions of Harry Reid this week IN CONGRESS.
Bring Rush Limbaugh in to defend himself against Reid’s deliberate lies and calls for censorship. At least Senator Joseph McCarthy let people speak in their own defense.
Before you attack someone who’s attacking a republican (an understandable impulse), remember who and what conduct you’re implicitly defending.
For example, there was a recent story here on FR about the infamous airport bathroom in question, it said:
Web sites had touted that restroom as a popular site for sex with strangers, and police reports over the summer described several cases of men ducking their heads under the dividers into adjoining stalls, allegedly in search of sex.
As I read it, I realized that really still dont understand how and what this sleazeball Craig was up to.
For example, was Craig going to crawl under the barrier, sliding under the 12 inch space between the wall and the floor, and go into the adjoining stall?
Could he even fit under? If yes, that’s disgusting. Just think about it. Visualize it. It’s a horror show, it’s depravity.
I presume he was wearing a suit. Wouldnt he be getting his clothes disgustingly dirty on a common-use bathroom floor? How would he explain THAT to his wife when he got home?
Would he have needed to squeeze his body on the floor against the public toilet to get down into position? I would think so. That’s just unbelievably perverse. And isnt Craig over 6 ft tall? The adjoining wall isnt that long, is it? So would he have to squeeze into a fetal position and sort of wiggle his way over? Its beyond sick.
The cop reported the position of his hand — he had crossed over the right wall with his left hand, I think implying that Craig was starting to “make his move” to crawl on the floor under the adjoining barrier.
So if/once Craig got inside the adjoining stall then there would be TWO MEN together in a stall!! Wouldnt that be kind of obvious to anyone else walking into the public bathroom? I mean, a lot of noise, and 4 shoes on the floor? Hello!!
And since Craig hadnt really SEEN the person in the adjoining stall, how perverted is it to pop into a bathroom stall, squeezing along the floor and all, to appear in front of someone he’s never even seen before? because — youre already in the stall, at that point! This is beyond bizarre and this is the behavior of a US Senator??
How would the two men walk out of the stall, after they were done? Holding hands? What if someone else was outside, washing their hands? How could they DO that! A US Senator? What if a parent and child were outside, walking into the room?
It boggles the mind.
He should be tarred and fdeathered, and run out of the party.
You’ve just written the screenplay for “Bent Back Mountain” what will you do with your Oscar:>))
Is cafferty still alive? He sure looks dead!
Cafferty is CNN’s sad attempt at duplicating O’Reilly, the tough take no prisoners interviewer/opinion maker. I think he’s a liberal hack, slightly less biased than Wolf Blitzer (that’s not saying much).
