NY state's county clerks revolted against Gov. Spitzer's plan to allow illegal immigrants to obtain state driver's licenses - some vowed not to carry it out if ordered to do so. The clerks said Spitzer's plan would make NY a magnet for illegal immigrants, raise security concerns, and create "confusion" about state-issued licenses and non-driver IDs at voting booths, in government offices and elsewhere.

More seriously: Spitzer is a criminal who extorted millions for his campaign by pursuing false charges against big corporations and farming the legal work out to private firms (not the state) who collected large 'fees' for this work from the settlements. These fees were then held in reserve and a lot of them kicked back to Spitzer to run his campaign for governer.
Spitzer is as crooked and ruthless a politician as one can find in the US.

On the other hand, it is heartening to see the County Clerks stand up to the obvious criminality which Spitter is demanding.
NY is a cesspool...They get what they Deserve.

There's all kinds of bennies this radical socialist no doubt has planned at our expense for his little illegal alien voters. College tuition, increased health care, preferential hiring quotas at the state level. Whatever he can think of regardless of the laws as the taxpayers and employers continue to be forced out from the high taxes, regulations and increasing crime. Savage is right, liberalism is a mental disease with no cure.

Without question, this will destroy the owner operators/independents in the trucking industry. Certainly local trucking. They are finished. And, you’ll see the formal/informal hubs just inside the NY state border and the spoke (trucking within the state) will be by Pedro’s Pony Express.
For years all we hear was: “Driving is a privilege, not a right!”
Initially this was sold as to save New Yorkers on car insurance, so there would be fewer illegal’s driving unlicensed. WOW, so we save $1.42 each per year (or whatever -you know its peanuts). That was universally scoffed at.
This makes some fools feel good though until theres a new target fitting for deconstruction.
